Office PC <$200

Hi there,

Looking to get 4 more desktop PC's for staff members.

They are only used to connect to a remote desktop server that does all the work.

Can anyone recommend what to buy thanks? Price range $150-$200.

//For clarity I just need the box. No monitors.

    Look at refurbished Lenovo's like a M71 or M92?

    • Will check out on ebay.

  • Do you need a full kit? or literally just the computer box?

    • I am currently going through some nonsense from their latest deal, I ordered the Dell Optiplex, and upgraded to 16GB ram and 512GB HDD, they sent me their base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB HDD, no communication, notice or offering a refund.

Currently waiting for the difference to be paid back. Absolutely not worth it. I'm stuck with a lower HDD and RAM Computer. Wish I could just return it and get the full refund or just get what I ordered from them. Currently opened a paypal dispute. Terrible experience purchasing from them.

      • Tried messaging @FuseTechAU on these forums? Whoever runs the account seems to be at least somewhat active.

I contacted them via email, instagram and I get the message "seen" but no response. I'll try this too. Anyhow I have started a paypal dispute (even that was not unresponded to) , hopefully they resolve it soon.

They do not seem to have the upgrade parts in stock https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12641034/redir

          • @[Deactivated]: Ouch, that's a bit shit. Should be automatic refund if they don't have the parts at a minimum, not you having to chase it for weeks.

            • @freefall101: Yes it is annoying. If they notified me I would've cancelled the order or edited the order. Now I still have to spend on a new RAM and HDD.

@freefall101 Thanks for the advice. I messaged FuseTechAU through this OZB and got the refund for the parts upgrade processed today.

This is a "thin client" configuration. So the obvious solution would be to go onto ebay and buy four cheap second-hand thin clients. That's what thin clients are designed to do. Warning though, anything even reasonably recent of that sort is designed for display port monitors.

    • This. No need to get anything more powerful.

  • There are a million options on ebay.

Lenovo M92P are well made and quiet.
They have Displayport on the back and a second one located inside on the motherboard (yes, i've used it) for dual screens.
Plenty of SATA ports - if you use a power splitter cable and sticky velcro you can run a DVD drive, a 3.5" drive and two 2.5" drives.
Its got 4 RAM slots and DDR3 is pretty cheap, especially used.
You can also fit a low profile GPU such as a 1050Ti, though not needed for office tasks.
Only thing i really wish it had was USB3 at the front and a 3.5" front bay for a card reader - but at this price you cant complain!

An i5-3470 can run Windows 10 easily for office tasks.
Preferably get 16GB RAM and a 256GB SSD and you'll be set.
