Learnt my lesson with the last one, don’t preorder! Wait for the bugs to be ironed out.

    • +2

You'll be waiting a loooooooong time

    • +1

And was your last preorder Cyberpunk by any chance? lol

      • +1

Valhalla and it was the only game I had with my PS5 at the time but there was a bug where you couldn’t progress past one of the first missions. So I was essentially stuck in Norway.

        • Mountain climbing and sliding was an achievement. So atleast you had that. Norway region was pretty on the eye.

The game has some bugs but overall is quite amazing.

Ubisoft games tend to drop in price relatively quickly after launch. This will be $49 pretty quick an $29 on offer just like pretty much all their other titles.

    • So true. Last few ubisoft releases have dropped substantially in their 2nd month

    • +1

Or just grab the ubi+ free trial at launch and finish it in that period

    • +2

Sometimes they even drop in price before launch, AC Valhalla was briefly $20 hours before release for the ultimate edition

      • +1

        Yeah I doubt that wasn't a mistake…

        • 100% a mistake, but still funny with how fast Ubi games drop in price after release

      • Indeed. The perks of pre-ordering on Amazon.

        • You pay $0 upfront.
        • You get lowest price pre-order guarantee if it ever dips randomly.
        • You can cancel anytime in 2 clicks.
        • You can return for free 30 days after delivery.

You lose nothing but can gain cheaper price especially as some game prices go back up on launch.

However, still worth noting that Ubisoft game prices do tend to drop quickly after launch.

I will wait for 10-20 bucks

    • Yeah what's the rush with these sorts of games.

They become bargain bin pretty quickly.

  • +3

    I’ve read people anticipating a 10-20hr campaign

    • +10

I hope so! I wish more games would go for a tight 8-15hr narrative, rather than the stretched out elongated stories we seem to get these days. It is extremely rare that I play a game that doesn't feel far too long. It's why I loved Last of Us Lost Legacy and Spider-Man Miles Morales, shorter, tighter stories.

I was on the fence about preordering but hearing it isn't too long has convinced me to order. Plus, with Amazon I can always cancel or return if it turns out to be crap.

      • You can return opened games to Amazon?

        • I have never tried, but I more meant if you preorder and the reviews are terrible, you can return.

          • @witheredcouch: Quick Google shows me this… but it's for US Amazon. Nothing easily found for AU. I wonder if it's the same policy.

            "Software and Video Games
Software and video games can be returned for a full refund within 30 days of purchase. Returned software or video games that are activated, used, or missing parts will incur up to a 100% restocking fee.
            "

      • I completely agree, when I get to the 20-25hr mark I'm only trying to finish the story/narrative/game. It takes a little bit of the fun away if the grind is too long, or too many fillers take up your time…

      • I really dug AC: Odyssey but holy crap was there a lot of it. It could have been it's own trilogy and I wouldn't have complained.

  • worth pointing out this game will release more than a year later from today lol - 31 December 2023!

    • +3

I think that's just placeholder date until the official release is confirmed. It'll be brought forward.

      • ahh fair enough, makes sense.

      • +2

Yep. Most likely this will release in Sept-Oct for the Christmas period.

        • 2023… and I've read a Spring (Northern Hemisphere) release, which would be March-May

  • +1

Bit tired of the Middle East setting for these games. More looking forward to the Japan one.

    • We're only in Middle East for like 3 AC Games. Not that bad. But yeah the Japan one looks promising. Done right it could even be the new Tenchu.

      • I'd have rathered China. Ghost of Tsushima did AC in Japan already.

        • Well, it's a bit different seeing as AC will follow a shinobi (i.e. ninja), whilst Ghost of Tsushima follows a samurai.

Also, there has been AC Chronicles China. Not the full AC experience, but it was something.

  • +2

I'm hearing that Mirage will likely be a return to the original AC format. If this is the case, I'm definitely keen. Didn't particularly enjoy the 150 hour shallow grindfest RPGs that were the recent titles.

Will place a pre-order with Amazon, and wait for more information to arise.

    • I thought Odyssey was pretty great. Origins and Valhalla bored me.

  • No gameplay shown yet either lol

  • +1

I just picked up the original for $5 at the local op shop as it's the only version in the franchise that I hadn't played. so i'm revisiting & playing homage already.

  • +2

You play one of these games and you have played them all. Just the same recycled play style. Gets boring so quick. Except for Black Flag, I haven't really enjoyed any of these games.

    • Kind of like the Farcry games

    • Well this new one is apparently different to the more recent RPG like ones of the series (eg Odysey, Valhalla) and more action stealth like early AC with much shorter campaign.

      • I played Odyssey and the demo of Valhalla. Didn't find much different except the setting.

  • wtf with all the other codenames announced? why so many assassin's creed games?

    • Because they are essentially reskins with mechanics tweaks. Not a bad thing from a business perspective.

  • I'm keen but I'll wait a bit more. I'm definitely a fan of narrative games with good combat.
