Boost - Forward All Calls to a US Number

Hello

I'm going to travel to the US and availed a recent deal from Simsdirect to get a US sim card.
I've received it and activated my new US number.
I planned to forward all calls from my Australian number (Currently with Boost) to this new US number.
Tried to set it up but it doesn't work.
I've contacted Boost through the messenger on their website and they are telling me that the calls can only be forwarded to another Australian number even though I have unlimited calls to US included as part of my plan.

I'm hoping that someone would be able to tell me how to make this work.

TLDR: Looking to auto forward all calls to a US number from Boost. How to make it work?

  • Boost have Roaming activate roaming and use the second sim or esim for data..

Edit: apparently not..How do I use my phone overseas? Can I use International Roaming?
International roaming is not available on your Boost Mobile service.

However, we are planning to launch a new version of international roaming until late 2022/early 2023.

try forwarding to +1 (US number) that doesnt work 00111 (US Number)

    • No, it doesn't work. I have tried.

      • I used to forward my mobile to my US google voice number when I was with boost.

Only other way you can do it is order a AUS skype number ($9) install skype on your phone then forward your boost to your Skype number. your phone will ring.

    • Ok, Looks like a viable option.
Is there a way to forward sms too?

Australian carriers dont support SMS forwarding.
But if its iphone to iphone you will likely get the sms (imessage)
you can give people your skype number it will accept sms & display in app.
also calls to Aus phone using skype are 3.5c/min or 15.4c likely much cheaper than your US sim

      Thanks mate.
The US sim has unlimited calling to US and Aus for the month.
I would have needed it for data anyway.
      The Skype option looks good.
I might even add call forwarding to the US number (In case I have poor data coverage somewhere) as they are offering one month free trial.
      Really appreciate your help.

    • If you have an Android just leave your Aussie sim in it at home and use https://messages.google.com/ while overseas. You will receive sms from all phones, even iphones, and you can reply to them too. Unfortunately Apple don't allow third party apps to handle sms and the imessages app isn't capable of this function yet.

  • I am looking at something similar for my wife when we go to the US at end of the year.

Basically I am looking to port her to Boost, as they have VoLTE/VoWifi already, and Telstra/Boost are the only carries that allows VoWifi outside Aus.

If you have a dual sim or a second phone, you should be able to use the data from your US sim as the 'wifi' over which your Boost calls/messages will be received. I believe it probably depends on which phone you have and which network you will be using in the US, but should be doable.

There is more discussion about it in a thread on Whirlpool which I can't find at the moment.

    • @djkelly69: Did it work? I am planning a USA trip and am currently on Boost. Their roaming is $40 for 14 days but with just 5 GB of data, and other inclusions are not clear.

  • I was using my boost Aussie number in Fiji with the hotel wifi. SMS worked great as well

The VoWifi was not always registering and I found running VPN agent windscribe back to Australia stabilises the connection.

  • It worked for me when I was in the US, I just used the normal call forwarding MMI code to establish an unconditional call forward. That is, dialling star 21 star[US Phone Number]#. To cancel, it was as simple as dialling ##21#.

Edit: had to write the word star instead of using the symbol, as Ozbargain was interpreting this as formatting code.
