$100 Driving Credit for New Borrowers (Sign up via App Only) @ Car Next Door

131
YOUGET100

Found from Facebook post. I have a car listed there hence the associated tag but I'm not an employee, so unsure how many spots left out of 1000. Hope someone finds this useful.

TLDR:

  • Download Car Next Door app and use code YOUGET100 when signing up to get $100 credit
  • Do not sign up from the website

Their blurb:

If you ever needed a sign to take your first trip with us, here it is!

With my manager on leave and a burning idea in my head, I made the executive decision to give away $100 in driving credit to the first 1000 new borrowers!

So, 24 hours have passed, with no calls from my manager (yet). Although, when I think about it twice, I did get 4 calls last night, which I didn't answer (as I thought they were telemarketers)

To redeem, download the app and sign up using the code YOUGET100

Also, here’s a bunch of legal stuff I pulled together:

Offer starts 9/9/22 and ends 30/9/22. Limited to the first 1000 users. Use code YOUGET100 when signing up on the app before 30 September 2022. Code not valid on the Car Next Door website. App sign-ups only. Once the code is applied, the $100 credit is valid for trips starting within the next 30 days. Only available to first-time users once they complete the sign-up, ID and credit verification process with Car Next Door. See here for full terms and conditions: https://bit.ly/3ekUxnd. DM Car Next Door for any questions.

Really thought with all that Uber money, you guys would have at least improved your app. Still feels like something out of the early iPhone days.

I used this the other day for the first time, instead of goget. Turned out to be pretty painful.

First there's the booking fee, which makes it expensive for short bookings. Then finding the car was more difficult than it should be. God knows why the app can't give you a GPS location. After that you need to take pictures of the car before and after your trip. To get into the car, there's an arcane combination lock.

It's just not the frictionless system car sharing should be.

    • Re: finding the car, there should be a GPS. Unsure what happened to you but I also haven't use the app for borrowing for quite awhile.

Car owners are also supposed to give detailed instructions as well, maybe some failed to give that

The cars are parked on the street in my area. People can return them to a slightly different spot.

      First there's the booking fee

How much is the booking fee?

How much is the booking fee?

6.99 for my booking. I don't know if it changes.

    • Yea, CND is pretty good for day trips when you need an upgrade to a 7 seater because families are in town or something. The whole taking pictures and cleaning the interiors etc is worth it compared to going Thrifty, etc. For short one-time trips, not so much.

      • The whole taking pictures and cleaning the interiors etc is worth it compared to going Thrifty, etc

        Is it? The first 7 seater I can see on CND is a 2011 Kluger. A 100km trip would cost me $35 (hire fee) + $6.99 booking fee + $53 mileage (53c/km) = $94.99

Expedia shows me a 0-2 year old Prado for $106.48 + petrol ($15 tops) from avis. GoGetCar shows me a newish Kia Carnival for $135 inc 120km.

The CND savings are marginal at best for me, especially given the age of the car. For a whole day rental, I'd probably go with Avis, because I get better insurance terms with my Amex.

I tried to sign up before but had recently moved. The sign up process only had 1 photo for licence so it had my old address.

Application was declined and they said that decision is final.

Sounds like I'll be failing too, thanks mate!.

needed a car for a weekend and went into ikea to grab a goget key and was about to sign up when this popcar deal popped up. Used it and was easy and straight forward, first time using any car share service. Rates' cheaper and with the signup bonus, I got the use of the car for free!

Looks like offer still on untill end of Sept as well.

Signed up with new account and applied the code, account summary show $0 credit.

    • Same here, signed up but no credits appear.

      • bababooey moment

    • Heya, you need to complete the verification through the app. Once done, after around an hour or so, your account will be verified and you will get the $100 credit. Hope this helps.

Just a heads up, this company is dodgy AF.

The past few years, they've had no warnings/prompts whatsoever when re-scheduling your bookings. The only mentions are deep in the T&Cs, which technically you agreed to on signing up.

They will charge you full original price of your original booking.

Which is a fair policy if you're re-scheduling like within 24 hr of your original booking, but this needs to be clearly communicated. Instead, it baits customers into believing it's free. I've complained about this multiple times, they have never gotten it fixed. They just throw the T&C at you, so I'm pretty sure this is an intentional predatory practice.

Also, they are not regulated by the Omsbudsman overseeing transport (taxis, ubers, vehicle rentals). They're just out there doing whatever TF they want.

Contact the car owner. I’m happy to transfer my share back if the change doesn’t affect my schedule. I like to build relationship as borrowers usually live nearby.

Some owners share their car because they are not using it everyday. Imagine cannot using your own car because a booking need to be moved into your planned time within short notice. I end up need to use Uber or book another car on the platform.

  • I've used car next door heaps of times and only ever had one issue which was finding the car.

If goget or similar rideshare isn't in your area then it's been brilliant

  • Beware of the credit check. These guys do credit check and it will be in your credit file for 5 years.

  • $100 not applied after account verified and payment details added. Help desk couldn't help either
