DoorDash Refused to Refund Cancelled Order

Hi,

I did placed grocery order with Doordash and customer service rang me and informed me items i order was unavailable. Would you like to cancel the order or choose substitution?
I chose to cancel order and request no charge for my order. The customer service then cancelled my order. Later she got in trouble for the refund and transfer to ESCALATION TEAM to support. After the transfer, the new agent said he cannot process the refund because the customer request to cancel the order. Hence he cannot provide full refund due to Doordash policy.

What should I DO?

    How did you pay?

I'd get screenshots and then sort out via a dispute with paypal or my bank.

I would have asked them to provide what was ordered then

there is an option when you order for the restaurant to choose a substitution. OP isn't giving full story

  • They said the customer agreed to doordash refund policy when i signed up my account…

The law trumps any policy, if you pay for something you better get it, or get a refund, or they are basically robbing you.

make a complaint to fair trading.

    Stop using Doordash

    • Wise words.

This is one of those things you must pursue relentlessly out of principle.

Do not let this go. Get every cent back.

These days if a company made mistake, not sure what's with the song and dance for the refund.

  • And they do not have customer support in Australia.
Whenever i call, i was redirect to United State phone line.

Straight to the the relevant ombudsman for that particular industry regulator. Make sure they are well aware you have escalated the matter to the Ombudsman, this will likely speed up the process. Oh, and make sure to trash talk and make this experience known on every public review spot

    • Is there even an Ombudsman for that industry?

      • +3

No, but you could try the food court.

        ProductReview?

      • No Ombudsman, just the Department of Fair Trading, or equivalent, in each state.

I can’t bring myself to use any of these services.

    • For a small price of seven dollars and ten percent price increase. You too can feel like a king. And have people do shopping for you

If it helps i've been abusing DoorDash since it came out, easy half price dinner if i'm to lazy to cook.

    • How???

      • +1

That's something i can't tell you else it would get hotfixed lol

      • Let's just say he is a slut

        • You just hit them up for enough refunds/credits until they stop. Then move onto next number/CC. Usually get about 10 in.

  • Another reason customer service will refuse refunds is that you will have exceeded your quota for credits/refunds for that month. Customer service will be straight up locked out from processing any credit/refund on their system. You'll need a supervisor or higher to assist there.

Is there a way to know if you are approaching it so you don't risk ordering anything from that platform? Is the amount limit and time period known?

      • +1

Nope, not on the customer side. Just be aware that if you need to escalate a missing delivery on a month where you've requested a bunch of credits ($20+), your request will be bounced.

        • Haha. This is a new account first order and they already (profanity) me up

    Dont use doordash next time.

If any company denies a refund when I'm clearly entitled to one, I don't waste my time. Just call your bank and chargeback.

  • Pick up your own groceries

  • Doordash is the worst of the three - Uber Eats, MenuLog, and DoorDash

I'd never recommend them to anybody.

    • +1

they dont care about customer like Uber Eats and MenuLog.
Their support agent is the worst

    • is deliveroo better?

      • I don't have any experience with Deliveroo.

        • Uber Eats really hard to get to support agent past order.
Doordash is having issue with ongoing order.

  • And sometimes i face bad driver where they do not reply to customer message or phone call.
