      It hard wires into the router/modem. From there the cameras connect to the base directly. I get fairly good range. 650Sq block and i have cameras on each corner with the base in the middle.

        Can the base connect to the internet using wifi? Or does it only connect using LAN cable?

          Can use Wifi but like everything it's probably better if you can connect it wired.

            @beebul: When i set mine up years ago, i think there wasnt a Wifi option or im an idiot who missed it.

              @Masterc: On set-up you have to use wired at first to get the system online, but then you can use wireless.

              This is on the Homebase2 though, you might have the 1?

                  Every now and then when my NBN goes down the Homebase announces loudly that it's connecting to WiFi.. silly thing.

      The bases can be configured to connect via ethernet or via wifi.

    Are these better than Google Nest Cams?
    I guess both have a security flaw where anyone can factory reset the cams and all history gets deleted from the cloud/base.

      I don't understand this security flaw as I reset one of my cameras recently and still have access to the footage from before this reset. I use a homebase 2?

    Can I connect Homebase and Homebase2 to the same WIFI modem? ie. two setups

      Yes onto the Homebase - so you will have footage of them doing it that can be viewed back.

      It's hard to say, it can depend on any obstructions in the way…double-brick walls, etc

        Only obstruction would be one double-brick wall on the house. The shed is colorbond which I'm told can cause issues with wifi/bluetooth signals?

          It says the range is 300ft (around 90metres) but that will be with a clear line of sight… you maybe okay but as I mentioned there are a few factors, like the strength of your signal, etc.

    If (like me) you want 4 cameras, it works out cheaper to buy 2 of these kits, and keep the second base as a backup! Pity the 4 camera kits are not on special.
