Flying to Australia from Manila via Taiwan

Hi Guys, I'm thinking of flying with China Airlines from Manila to Brisbane via Taipei.
There is a 4.5 hour layover in Taipei.

I was wondering if my wife would be allowed on a Philippines passport? Filipinos can't get visas to Taiwan at the moment but she would only be stopping at the airport to continue to Brisbane which I assume would be fine as she would not need to go through immigration.

Cheers.

  • If the layover is far from might night you stand a better chance.
Check with airline and get the covid pain sorted within the right timeframe!

  • Manila to Taipei is going in the wrong direction…

are you transiting (continuing on the same flight/same ticket), or transferring (new ticket/need to check in again)? Its rare, other than citizens of some countries like iran or syrian, to require a visa to transit when you are not leaving the transit area (ie stay behind immigration)

    the airline can help you

also I'm pretty sure filipinos can get into Taiwan, they just cant get in under the visa free system. But they can get a tourist e-visa. Not that you are likely to need one.

  • you should be fine she is not clearing customs in taiwan, you will transfer to a new plane airside

  • She’s a transit passenger no need to go through immigration. Just follow the transit signs.

However need to wear a mask.
