The charge 5 is $134 at the good guys commercial if you can get the membership. Pretty good price there.

  • Which of the 2 is the better choice?

I think the Charge 5 is a way better speaker than the UE Megaboom 3, so I'd easily go the 4 over the UE Boom 3.

  • Why is the Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3 cheaper?

    • NVM Im an idiot lol

  • Do either of these speakers have the stupid "remote power on"? I have a mega boom and you need to use the old app to disable it. It's a bad feature because it causes the speaker to have a very short standby time of a day or two.

    • Another user in the past mentioned the same issue, but they said they only have to charge it every 1~2 weeks not every day?

Also as far as I know all current gen Boom speakers have that feature.

      • Can it be turned off?

        • I think you answered your own question above? Use the old app to disable it?

I haven't heard of that method though. The method I have heard to "disable it" is to unpair it from your phone and do a factory reset by holding down certain buttons for 10 seconds or so.
This is only really ideal if you plan to not use the Boom speaker for awhile because you need to go through the pairing process again when you turn the speaker on. But I have read feedback that the Boom will lasts many months when it's off if you use this method.

If you use the speaker regularly, like once a day or 4 times a week I think it's easier to just keep the Boom paired and charge it when you have the time. Unless keeping battery health is very important to you, then you might think factory resetting everytime you switch the speaker off and repairing the Boom everytime you switch the speaker on is worth it.

  • The Boom 3 has been hovering around $145 on Amazon AU for as long as I can remember.

  • Is the Charge 4 worth upgrading from Charge 2?

  • Boom 3 is $98 here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/726738 . this a bad deal
