Joint Savings Account Advice - Best App/Bank?

Hi all

My partner and I would like to set up a joint savings account - at this point in time our finances are not merged so we don't have any existing joint accounts and would be happy to open an account with a brand new bank if that makes sense financially.

Ideally the savings account would:
- have an app we can both access (on our own phones) to see the balance
- decent interest rate
- if there is a deposit requirement, no more than~$700 per month (we think $1000 a month might be stretching it)

We currently both have accounts with ING if that makes any difference.

Bonus points if its one of the new online banks (Up etc)
Bonus points if the account can be opened online (ie. no need to go into a branch)

Thanks in advance

    Do you have a mortgage?

    • No

      • Do you have any significant debts with interest rate > 6%

    • This is pretty much the answer.

    • Thanks :)

    we are using HSBC Everyday.
the 10 different currencies functionality helps us when we are travelling overseas to convert some foreign currencies using the same pot of funds

    • Keep a close eye on HSBC, I had quarterly statements setup and realised after 7 months that two had been missed. logged in to the system and found someone at HSBC had changed my postal address (and name) to someone in a different state and had sent both my statements there. I had the 2FA dongle so it wasn't possible for it to have been hacked.

  • U or Up
but make a plan, share all or divorce!

  • If the goal is to minimise the number of apps on your phone - you can set up a shared account with ING, in addition to your existing ones.
