iPhone 14 Pro Max Users - Are You Experiencing Call Dropouts?

Using an iphone 14 pro max - vodafone, I've been noticing just about every single call I make dropping out around ~8 seconds in for around 10 seconds and it's fine again.

Anyone else having the same issue?? Usually the person on the other line hangs up and when I call them again, it's fine.

This is happening maybe around ~10 times per day. All during the first few seconds of the phone call.

Apple have not had a Blue Tick Appoved phone since the iPhone 8.

    • Over the last few years, Telstra has pumped the breaks on testing Apple iPhones for the Blue Tick seal of approval. In fact, the most recent Apple device to receive certification is 2017's iPhone 8.

To be honest, there's no reason why a more recent device, like the iPhone 13, would struggle to get coverage in a regional area but if you want a bonafide Blue Tick Apple smartphone, the iPhone 8 is your only option. Telstra itself doesn't stock the iPhone 8, but you can get a refurbished model from Telstra MVNO numobile at a decent price.

      • When we had a recent camping experience, that out of everyone using Optus, my partner and I were the only ones with decent reception. Everyone else had iPhone 10 to 13.

        • I still have an iPhone 6+ as a backup phone and it always has best signal compared to other 5G devices next to it (including S20 plus & iPhone 12 Max)

There is a modem update coming in iOS 16.1. Are you on iOS 16.0.2? Do FaceTime audio calls dropout?

I am on 16.0 - Don't think 16.1 is out to the public yet. Never tried FaceTime audio… Will give it a shot.

      • Install iOS 16.0.2. iOS 16.1 is still in beta.

  • No but I got a black screen of death about 5 mins into it. Easy fix but shouldn’t have to

  • TechRax mad his own version of blended ip 14. Very silent now.

    bro its vodafone

  • so I've got a Telstra sim and a Optus sim in mine, and they are both losing connection, the sim bar totally disappears. and the phone looses any type of connection, apps tell me i need internet EG. comes back 30 seconds to a min later

Telstra is a eSim and OPTUS a physical, I turned one sim off at a time etc and it still happens on both, So i think its iphone 14/ios16 related as its happening on different carriers.

So I am assuming if I was on a call it would drop out when this happens. So Yes I am

    • Hmm I haven't noticed the sim bars totally disappearing yet. But the update to 16.02 IOS seems to have worked so far for me.

Received 2 calls (1 call dropped out) and made another and 2 out of 3 is fine so far..

  • yep, it's VOdafone

  • I'm with Aldi Mobile which uses Telstra network with S20plus handset. We are constantly experiencing call drops in our area. I've heard similar feedback from neighbours. I had to disconnect 5G and connect to 4G network to get better call quality.
