Battlefield 3: Premium.. cheapest option

(mods, apologies if this post breaks any rules.. of course if it does I'd like it removed)

BF3 Premium cost $50.
I got it for $35.. saving of 30%

People were getting it for $22 via india but I'm pretty sure they've raised the price to stop this happening.
(yes, i feel sorry for those in india who now must pay more.. but in another year it will prob be free anyway)

You can still get it for 499 pesos($35) from mexico.. this is how:
(you can also open google translate to help you with these steps)

  1. actually log out of origin and battlelog.. close all.

  2. install free foxyproxy standard ed on firefox.
Use this: ip: 200.53.119.154 port 8080
(at your own risk, google for other mexican proxys)

  3. goto http://store.origin.com/ (surfing using the proxy)
it should come up in mexico.. click the bf3 premium link. choose 'inglis' from the language selection (english). add it to the cart.

  4. go to checkout.. you should now see a field where you sign in using your current origin email/username and password.. sign in.

  5. Now enter your credit card details (it is https server).
Under 'country' australia wasn't shown.. i just entered mexico.

  6. submit the form.. agree to terms for completion (which I read, seemed ok and standard)
it will show a page saying something like 'please wait while we process order'.. but this page doesn't seem to do anything else.

you can now disable foxyproxy addon.

wait a while (15mins?) for an email from origin saying it's all good.
Once you have this, next time you log in to origin 2.8gb Close Quarters will instantly start installing.

That's pretty much it.
The game works for me and is in english (europe).
Better get in quick before they raise the price in mexico too.

(have a look around, maybe there's some even cheaper country??)

have fun.. let me know if you have qs

Shame we get screwed on PSN. US$50 = AUD$80. Sony must have a fixed exchange rate from release day of the PS3 ;)

  • I prefer to buy from OzGameShop at the moment!

    http://www.ozgameshop.com/pc-games/battlefield-3-premium-gam…

I had 5000 player points and not long ago they gave everyone 5000 extra points, So I had 10000 and was able to redeem $10 off the order.

I know you could get it cheaper else where but this way is a bit more legit and cheaper than from EA direct.

    • A good recommendation and I do prefer being a bit more legit/local.

In this case, I wanted the cheapest option as I felt a bit stung having to pay for Karkand expansion twice.

  • update: my method still works, premium still working fine and as if I purchased through normal methods.

I read in a forum that brazil might also be cheap/er.. so consider that too.

  • Hi Stitchy thanks for info :)

It tells me, its unavailable if I do your method. It allows me to do it through Battlelog though! is that still going to work?

  • Thanks Stitchy, did it on friday, worked a charm! I did look at some other countries, like brazil but they were only a few $$ cheaper than Aus. Mexico still cheapest by far

    Thanks for the feedback Danb,

Chillenau, perhaps try again, make sure your proxy is active.

When you surf to store.origin.com you should see up the top in the address bar, something to indicate it's accepted you as a mexican.. you should see mexicos country code, but certainly nothing australian like 'au'/

and on the page you are now at, somewhere there should be a BF3 Premium link.
Click this, and follow my steps.

If this still doesn't work, maybe google for 'bf3 premium via indian proxy' + 'steps' or something.. and you'll get someone else's list.

if you discover an issue or haziness with any of my steps, please let me know.

  • thank you sir!

all the other options that I had checked inc ru, brazil, argentina, india, ukraine, thailand had been closed off.

  • Good effort OP, for typing up instructions.

I got in when the India prices was $27AUD (after conversion) from the indian origin website, got all my mates one.

PlatinumHideIp is also another good program, but you need the paid version.

  • How many items are supposed to be in the cart at checkout? :S

    • ahh.. yeah, there are a couple of extra items that may appear at some stage.

by memory, these are the unlock kits that allow you to have all upgrades instantly..
I unchecked them and then I believe only one thing was in my cart.

  • Hey,

I just did this through the Mexican Origin Store, following Stitchy's instructions and I received the confirmation email. However, when I go to my Origin client to update, it says it's already up to date and also, Premium doesn't show on my Battlelog. Also, nothing shows in my Order History, either on the Mexican or Aus store. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Try right clicking the bf3 icon in your origin program.. Select repair install.

If it doesn't work within 48 hours let us all know..

By memory there were some lags before the update s ocurred

    • Yep, there seems to have been a delay coinciding with Armored Kill's release yesterday. Seems to be working fine now :) Thanks for the tip, Stitchy!

  • Do i need BF3 standard edition already installed?

    • Hi, yes you do.

Of course, you can have bf3 + an expansion already.

  • Can someone come up with a cheap work around for PS3 premium upgrades..?

  • thanks for info :)

  • I think im a bit stupid but when i made a proxy with a mexican ip adres with foxyproxy and was making a pattern subscription for http://store.origin.com/ it wouldn't let me and told me JSON parse error and i dont know what that means, can someone please help?

  • jaysuhn.. dunno, try different webbrowser?

store.origin.com should have a mexican suffix when it detect you are from mehico.

anyway.. currently there is a better offer of $30 for original and premium together.. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/85672

  • apparently mehico currently has it half price:
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/85766

    thanks for posting that

    • hmm…funnily enough, i thought more people would be interested in BF3:PE for 18-odd dollars. But there you go.

  • Guys…. I can't seem to find the "inglis" language selection on the Mexican site.. can anyone help me out?

    • FYI: I don't think that switched the web site to english (if that's what you're trying to do).
I had to copy each page into a translator to read them (terms and conditions etc).

By memory, that iglis step refers to the language for the game itself.. and it comes up half way through the steps. Are you sure it's no longer there?

  • Is this proxy NOT Working or is ther an issue at my end?
    ping 200.53.119.154:8080

Ping request could not find host 200.53.119.154:8080.
Please check the name and try again.

    Connection timeout!
    Proxy Country is Mexico

    • timing out on my computer as well.

google for another proxy i suppose

  • If i use this method to preorder bf4, Do you think it will work?

    • hmm.. I guess the earlier you try the better.. before loopholes are closed etc.

If it works, perhaps start a new thread so people can find BF4 in a thread title search.

I'm waiting til after the launch to decide if I want it.
It must have decent in-game voip or I won't be buying it.
