Now that phones are actually released, anyone with experience care to weigh in? Couldn't find any duplicates… previous similar topics were before the 14 was even announced.
I'm comparing 256gb versions (so full capability iphone 13 pro)
Let's assume they're both roughly the same price so that's not a factor. Everything else is.

I've done that.. I'm using the assumption that price is the same.. however specs and features differ slightly….but specs itself doesn't tell the whole story usually. There are some features that may allow the 14 to outperform specs.
I've tried to google and couldn't really find real world comparison reviews. A lot of pro vs pro, non-pro vs non-pro.

Do you really even need a model that recent though? An iPhone 8 from eBay will still get you iOS 16 and a perfectly usable experience.
Support for iPhone 8 is due to end this year or next. It's a five year old phone.
I'm assuming no consideration for price between both models.. meaning they'd cost the same.

13 pro: Better screen (120hz vs 60hz), optical zoom on the camera
14: lighter, supports mmwave (if we ever get it) edit: US only for that, apparently
Personally I'd get the 13 pro at the same price (or a little bit more) because I like 120hz screens.
yeh the better screen is a big plus for the pro.
battery capacity seems better with the 14 but performance may be better with the 13 pro (supposed to last longer?)

it's the same camera on both from what I can tell, except the 13 pro has the extra zoom camera. Can't imagine they'd be different enough to matter, the 14 pro looks a lot better though.
Makes sense, the pro camera is always better than the regular, one, I imagine the 15 will have the 14 pro camera.
Battery life sounds weird to me, unless there's something about the 14's screen that draws more battery, all the other hardware is the same. 13 pro has a smaller battery and 120hz screen though, doesn't make sense.
no action mode on the 13 pro… well unless there's plans for a software add.

Get the 14, 13 Pro will use battery much quicker regardless of battery size and doesn't have all the benefits the Pro Max has
interesting… so far comparison that I can see says the 13 pro has better battery life though?
The 13 has a bigger battery but also consumes more battery, from my understanding the iphone 13 has the best battery life and now iphone 14 slightly more.
If you can get an iphone 13 for 1k I say buy that, if you are comparing 13 Pro and 14 at 1.4k I would buy the 14 for sure. These phones and cameras and everything is so good you won't know the difference between anything unless you are specifically needing something.

Apple reporting battery has better performance on the 13pro compared to both models… non-pro 14 has the largest battery but seems like 13 pro battery is more efficient?

Once you get the higher refresh rate screen you'll never go back.
I'm fairly sure you lose out of the fancy dynamic island on the non-pro 14. Also lose out on the extra camera.

Iphone 14 is barely better than a regular 13 (marginally improved night shots), the refresh rate on the pro and optical zoom/macro lens would be way better to have.
Any benefit from action mode or the photonic engine? I'm leaning towards the 13 pro at the moment.
Action mode would be pretty good if you take fast paced videos where you're moving around
Speaking from no experience, I had heard the 14 is almost identical to the 13. Same processor, etc. But the 13 Pro was quite a bit different to the 13. If you have a chance to walk into an apple store and play around with both, that's what I'd do.

My Niece much prefers her old 12 Pro compared to the new Non Pro mainly down to the inferior camera/s
For this 14 generation, Apple uses the trick to encourge(force) people to buy the new Pro models.
I was about to buy the iPhone 14 but decided to spend $300 more to get an iPhone 14 pro.
So if you can get brand new 13 pro or 14 for the same price, 13 pro is definitely the choice. I would say 120Hz screen is the most important and worth buying feature.

Why not just get the 14 pro and keep it for 6 years?
Why not just try the compare iPhones on the Apple website? Look at the difference and see if the difference in $ is worth it to you.
