Hey guys,

Sign up to the Hoyts movie club or update your existing details and score yourself a free movie ticket!!! Be quick as movie is valid before 1st Nov 2008!

EDIT:

For some reason on the Hoyts website it states movie valid before 1st Nov 2008 but when you receive the email confirmation it states movie valid before 12th Nov 2008. So the 12th Nov 2008 it is :)

    • Did you change it then click on the link that said 'click to claim your ticket'..? If you did and it didn't send, you might want to ask support. ._.

  • Just wondering - is everyone getting the same barcode number? Mine has 24008BD00001705. If it's the same, then maybe that PDF file can be posted here instead of everyone having to sign up as a member?

  • hmm. My pdf looks a bit strange (it is A4 portrait, but I'm missing a lot of words from the sides, which leads me to believe that the original voucher is A4 landscape..)

    but at least the barcode is there so it should work!

  • QLDer's: If you get one of those Hoyts free movie vouchers, you can only use them at AMC cinemas. I can't see any AMC cinemas in the list though…

  • Yeah, I had lots of dramas updating my details too. Just ended up created a new one. I had to get them to re-send the sms, and when I finally go the confirmation email, the PDF was cut off. Hopefully they'll still accept it.

  • Anyone having problems with their code. Mines not accepting it and i've tried quite a few ways to enter it now (similar numbers/letters plus lower case and uppercase)

  • i think i have the same problem as kati for one of my tickets.

    it's really zoomed up and doesn't have the blue sky, green grass and flowers but at least it has the barcode so it should work.

  • You have to give your mobile number, which I'm not too happy about, but it does seem to be a legitimate free movie ticket!

    could someone tell me where do i collect the free tickets?

    • Weird that you don't have a link to claim the ticket in your email. Try going back to the website and update your details. Maybe that'll work….

  • Seems like people are having some problems with this multi-step process. XD So I wrote the procedure for new members below. Not sure about people who update, but see if you've done all the steps I'm listing…if you have and something jammed at one point anyway, perhaps contact Support?

    1. Sign up. After you do, you should see this page.

      An email has been sent to you with the link to claim your free ticket voucher.

    2. Check your mail. You should instantly get TWO messages from "Hoyts Cinemas". (Check spam if you don't get two? ._.) Ignore the one called "Membership confirmation", which goes like this..
      *Dear -yourname-,
      Thank you for registering as a Hoyts Movie Club Member. As a Movie Club member..blah blah..*

    3. Go for the email titled "Hoyts Flix For Nix Movie Voucher".
      *Dear -yourname-,
      Thank you for joining the Hoyts Movie Club. You can now use your free ticket for any film, any session until 12th November, 2008.
      Your Flix for Nix voucher redemption code will be sent to mobile number (xx)xxx-xxxxx. If this is incorrect please click here to update your mobile number details.

    4. Check that your number is right, then click on the bolded link in previous step (which is bolded in the email too).

    5. You'll immediately get an SMS, looking something like this.

      Thank you for joining HOYTS movie club. Your Flix for Nix code is xxxx. A link to claim your FREE ticket has been emailed to you. ENJOY YOUR MOVIE!"

    6. Check back at the link you clicked on in step 4. Page looks like this - Claim your Flix for Nix Movie Voucher Here

    8. Check your mail again, and print out the pdf attached.

    I got it fine (got the whole pdf, etc) when I just did it again, everything was instant. (Registered for my mom since she's too lazy to do it. :P)

    PS: MARKUP IS SO TEDIOUS.

    Edit: Watched Burn After Reading at Hoyts Broadway tonight! Went completely smoothly, accepted and scanned without any questions. :) Awesome deal. Puzzling show. XD

  • Got one ticket that was overblown for a A4 page, but it did have the barcode shown. Theatre accepted it as they said only needed to read the barcode.

    Saw "Burn after Reading. Good movie.

  • I'm giving this deal a negative vote because the Hoyts website is so god-awful bad, that it's basically unusable. Whoever built the Hoyts Club website should be marched off the premises for sheer incompetence. The deal itself would be great, IF THE WEBSITE WORKED.

    In particular:

    • I cannot update my current hoyts club. When I login and then try to update my details, without changing my email address / user id, I get the error: "Sorry, that user id already exists. Please choose another one."
    • To try to workaround the above error, when I try using a new email address (what Hoyts call a "user id") instead of the current one, when updating my account, I get another error, that says: "Your user ID does not match our records." [Impressive - you can't use your current email address, and you can't use a new one either, therefore you can never update an existing account].
    • When I try to sign up for a new account because updating is broken, and enter my mobile number, it says: "The entered mobile number is currently existing. Please enter another one." [i.e. it's remembering my mobile from the old account, the one that I cannot update in any way, even to remove the old number from].
    • I have emailed their support people (email is the only provided method of contact), and after 48 hours, no response / acknowledgment / fix to the website / anything whatsoever.
    • I forwarded the deal to 3 friends, and of the 3, one has the same account-updating problem as me, one never got their PDF email, and one got a PDF that was all messed up and basically illegible. That's an 87.5 % failure rate (counting the bad PDF as a half fail / half success).

    Pathetic. Negative vote, zero stars.

  • Worked fine. However, I was not was not able to use it on movies on the 'no free tickets' list.

  • For people who tried to update information and received the error message “Sorry, we have encountered an error creating your account. Please sign up at the cinema.”

    This is my solution:

    1. Update your account as how you tried, but this time put in a fake mobile number, e.g. If your number is 0412345678, put it as 0412345679 or something else. Enter correct password and update. Note that the error message will come out as usual. IGNORE it.

    2. Click on the BACK button. After that click on SIGN OUT button.

    3. Click on Become a Member and register with a different email account, but this time with your real phone number and click sign up.

    I am not 100% sure if it will work but it worked for me and hope it will work for you too.

    • They don't request ID. Have seen 4 movies with this promo! And everytime it's the same lady serving me, lol.

  • For those who had an existing Hoyts account and couldn't update their details due to the "updating" error message, it appears Hoyts has fixed it up and it's now working.
