Sapphire AMD Radeon R7 250 Graphics Card $110 + Delivery ($0 Sydney C&C) @ CCPU

Cheapest available on the market in Australia right now!? Supports 4K! I know the 4000 series is the hot new thing, but for those that want a smooth 1080p experience this will work well. When paired with the new Ryzen 7 should scream.

You could get an rdna2 6400 for not much more and it's a way better card, awful as it is. How do these old things still keep getting sold?

    • -3

That's 2-3x the price. This is for the frugal gamer. We're a small committed community of 720p gamers.

      • +3

Well a gt 1030 can be found for the same price and performs leagues better than this, it’s also
        got more modern drivers

        • -2

          $19 more though + shipping. That's 4 coffees!

          • +3

@checkingthisout: If you are frugal why are you spending $4.75 on coffee's

            • @m0tyrider: I wouldn't dare! I'll spend $4.75 on a cheap USB mouse any day of the week though! But only if it comes with nice RGB and a mouse pad!

        • Also the 1030 only had 2gb I think. So I she got some use cases the 1030 is a better option, it is memory constrained.

      • -3

If you can only afford a $110 ripoff card you should maybe dedicate your time to getting a qualification rather than gaming and save your money for food and rent.

        • -1

          Yeah, log off.

      • +1

There are dozens of us!! Dozens!!!

  • +9

    (Supports 4K)

    At 30Hz

    This chip is from 2013.

  • +2

    Marginally better than apu

    • -1

Yes, good card to take the stress of your Ryzen 7 or Intel i9.

      • +9

        *To stress the user

    • Intel maybe, Vega 11 no

  • +1

    what a cute card

    • -1

Single fan, quietest card on the market!

  • +1

Sorry I think there's an extra zero in the price there please amend the title

    • -1

Yes, should be $1100 if it had GPU mining support in 2021.

  • +6

DDR3 (not GDDR) model so would even be much worse than most benchmarks suggest, if that's possible. Ancient junk for relatively a lot a money.

    • -3

Sad to downvote what is considered by many a great bang for.

      • +1

what is considered by many a great bang for

Maybe 8-9 years ago it was a great bang for buck card, but not now at $110.

      • +6

You're either sockpuppeting or badly need DYOR. Recommending people buy this for old games today is both terrible technical and financial advice. This was ~$150 at launch… 9 years ago.

    • Rather useless deal

  • +8

$110 for a 9 year old graphics card? Just pick up something second hand. You can pick up a GTX 1050 for ~$120 off eBay, and that'll perform 2-3x faster than an R7 250.

    • -5

Comments from 9 years ago on google are positive.

"This card is gigantic. I have a pretty decent tower from iBuyPower and putting this card in, went clear up to almost the mounting brackets for the hard drive."

  • +4

That's a wad of cash for a hopelessly outdated and underpowered card. It was not good even when it was new (in 2013!)

You'd be much better off finding something on the used market or saving up a bit longer. This card isn't worth the money.

    • -5

Can't get much for $110 brand new these days, apart from getting this beast brand new!

      • If ur planning on spending just 110$ on a gpu, how much are u planning for the motherboard, cpu, case, ram? Cuz it seems to me u want to buy just new parts and spend as little as possible! I'm betting u would put this in a build that costs less than $300 (if thats even possible) and try to game the new MW lol. Extremely bad advice recommending a card that is considered ancient.

Games are moving forward so they need more power and GDDR, not the opposite way…

        • Can make a nice 30FPS rig all brand new to play LoL on low or sims on ultra res.

          • @checkingthisout: 30 fps is unplayable on LOW

            • -1

@LuslecGrace: not for the elite frugal gamer

              • +1

@checkingthisout: Buy better parts, pay using afterpay, zip or whichever bnpy service u want, then pay in smaller chunks and stretch it (if applicable) as much as u can if ur that frugal.

A word of advice though! U can be frugal with everything else, just dont cut out money to buy cheap and bad parts for ur pc, at most ur looking at 1 year of stressful game playing. U could instead opt for a pc thats worth say no more than $800, get it and play for at least 4 years of decent unstressful gaming (if u dont mind medium settings in some games or maybe even low in others but u will most likely get 60 fps!)

                • @LuslecGrace: Good advice for those in the $800 range, and sound advice for those of us in the $250-300 range.

                  • +2

@checkingthisout: If ur budget is $300, it is much better getting a ps4 or xbox one - used is even cheaper assuming they work perfectly fine.

                    • @LuslecGrace: Also good advice, always options in the low end.

                      • +1

@checkingthisout: It's much better and u will have an easier time, i still have my xbox one from like 2017-2018 for only ~$230. Plays all games at 60FPS max settings

  • +4

Just picked up a 580 8gb for $30 more off market place
Not really a good deal here..

    • -2

Dealing in brand new. Staying away from fan gunk.

      • Fan gunk which I cleaned in 10 minutes?

        • -1

Careful the next pandemic could come from the fan gunk! Best to buy new deal.

  • +6

I wouldn't even take this for free. You can buy a whole CPU with integrated graphics for this price.

  • +1

Thanks OP.. This has AMD ZeroCore Power Technology!

    • -2

Finally someone who understands when not to HDOL! A true frugal gamer!

  • +3

Best to spend your money on something better. OP claims "smooth 1080p experience". Perhaps on the desktop, but not in any graphically intense games.
For a little bit more, you can get an rx 470/570 used which is much better value than this for a smooth 1080p experience

    • -4

This will play LoL a graphically intense game on low at at-least 30fps.

      • +1

what the are you baiting amigo, my old macbook air from 2014 could run league at 60 fps with its integrated graphics

  • +2

This is practically e-waste. Sad for our planet & even more so for gamers who get suckered into paying for this.

    • -2

It’s the opposite of E waste. 9 years old and still a frugal beast perfectly capable of 720-1080p gaming.

  • Give away is the only way out dude.

  • This has to be the worst tech deal I've ever seen posted on OZB…
