      I've used them for years until recently when they increased their prices very substantially. Switched to Aldi beans instead

    Apparently Aldi beans rate highly and regular price is cheaper than this iirc. I just bought a bag, but I need to figure out how to grind it because I've been using capsules for so long.

      Aldi beans are my go to when I run out unexpectedly - they're decent in a pinch, but these are definitely better.

          Given Canstar rates only supermarket brands, which are often months or even years old when people buy them, I wouldn't rely much on their ratings to compare them to freshly roasted beans.

          If you manage to find really fresh ones that are only 1-2 weeks after the roast date they can be fine.

          I did find a bag of medium roasted Aldi beans that was less than 2 weeks since the roast date one time I looked for them. They made a decent milk based coffee, however I didn't find them great with black coffee. They also went downhill after 3-4 weeks as they became stale like most coffee does.

          A couple of other times I checked when I was low on beans and the freshest ones they had were 5 weeks since the roast date, which is getting borderline stale so I found I couldn't rely on picking up fresh ones there.

            @thestig: You must have been impressed with the flavour if you keep on checking the roast date on the Aldi brand.

              @AustriaBargain: As I said, they can be fine when they're fresh, especially for milk based coffees. They were ridiculously cheap. I order the majority from LimeBlue or Direct Coffee. I am willing to pay 3-4x the price of Aldi beans for a flavour I prefer but I've had a few times where shipping is delayed and I run out and need something to tie me over a few days and it's convenient to check in Aldi while I'm there shopping. If I buy 1kg and use less than half before the next beans arrive/have degassed I don't really care.

                Why not just buy the smaller bag and buy it twice as often?

                  @AustriaBargain: This is the whole issue with Aldi beans. The other bags were months old. Only the 1kg bag of medium roast was fresh. It's luck of the draw what you get in the store so difficult to rely on them.

            I was looking at their Brazilian coffee and it had a best before of Dec 2023 I think, how much time to they add onto roast date for the best before?

              @kiitos: The roast date was printed as a reverse date on there. I thought their expiry date might be 1 year after roast date but maybe 18 months or 2 years if they have some with Dec 2023 expiry.

      I really love Aldi when I run out of fresh supply of beans. It's damn good coffee. If you put Oatly, or any alt milk like almond from Australian own, it'll always taste better lol

    I like trying a range of beans, and actually have only dialed in my first batch of sicilia today! (their Italian blend - I fit into the $25-35 per kg delivered price point)

    Certainly suits my tastes, and I'm happy at the price I paid for them.

    @siciliacoffee - wondering when this promo will end? I'm keen to try out these other beans of yours, but might hold off ordering for a few days (as I don't need any over the next 1-2 weeks, so if I can delay having them delivered by a few days, that works well). Thanks!

    Mine arrived today, bought from eBay to test. Noted that there's no roast date mentioned. I got two free samplers. I really wish these are freshly roasted.
