Hi everyone! We have blue Rams Horns back in stock! :) feel free to ask any questions below.

These are small blue and red snails, great for any freshwater aquarium.
They are quite hardy, and although prefer an temperature range of 18-28 C can survive lower temperatures over winter.

Ram Horns can grow to over 2cm in size, but usually slow down their growth significantly at about 1cm in diameter.

FAQ:
People often inquire about snails exploding in population when introduced to a tank, but there is a bit of a misconception with this: Snails will propagate until they reach an equilibrium with the food available for them in the tank. If you add snails and their population explodes, it means there is tones of food (usually left over fish food) for them to eat, and they are eating it. In other words: Doing their job. Once the food is gone, their population will reduce to enough snails that can survive on how much food is left after your fish are done with it. If they still keep up a massive population, that usually means you are feeding your fish too much.

Postage:
Snails are very resilient to postage issues, so much so we can send them in letters ($3 postage) and 99% of the time there is no issue. We do replace or refund fully if there are any issues with your order as well anyway.

Gave you a +1 for your informative write-up. Must say that I am not particularly interested in snails, but you certainly made it interesting and educational.

    • Thank you!

Got lots of Ram Horn Snails and Pond Snails as added bonus when I purchased the MASSIVE Plant combo last time :)
My kids love the snails more than the guppies as they can hold it in their little hands.

For people who want plants at the same time, this may be an option if you want random surprise snails!

    • Haha, yes since we keep them in the same tank that will happen.

      Glad you enjoy them!

  • Hi Op,

I have a small shaded outdoor pond (2m X 2m). Will these snails be ok outdoors?

Also what is the difference between this one and the $2.00 ones on your site? Is it just colour?

    Thanks

    • Just color, and it depends on temperature. Where do you live? If the pond doesn't go below ~15 Degrees the Rams Horns should be alright. If colder better go for pond snails.

  • Hi OP,

I had a bunch of ramshorn in my tank a while back and they all died. At the time I had a lot of seed shrimp around, all of which are now dead I think (or at least controlled).

Since that time I've introduced 3x mystery snails and also have 100s of shrimp which are all doing very well. Any idea why the ramshorn snails died?

    Thanks

If they died soon after being introduced it could be because they didn't acclimate. If a while after could be because of a lack of food.
