What state are you in? Optus should have been in touch to alert you to what info was compromised and advise if you need to replace it.

If in NSW, there's a strong chance no action is required.

    • i called optus (optus didnt called me).
and after waiting, they told me only the passport details and driver lic number was compromise.

      • and did they advise if you should replace it?

        What state are you in?

In NSW they are only asking to change licence if card number is exposed. If only licence number is exposed, you don't need to get a new licence.

Should just put an option for "No."

  • I still don't know if I've been affected. I used to be with Optus 4ish years ago and only recently signed up to GOMO but have had radio silence as far as communications regarding data leaks. Plenty of 'how we doin'' email surveys though.

Have had communication from optus but have decided to leave licence unaltered

  • So with this whole Optus incident, i want to know

    Why?

OP- Go and read previous Optus threads.

  • i wonder, does this incident only affecting current optus customer? or anyone who used to be optus customer are prone to be affected as well?
i was under the assumption optus kept all their previous customer data.

Call Optus and ask them if your data has been hacked.

News that you can get replacement passport's at RMS.

  • I don't have a Drivers Licence or a Current Passport and I'm not an Optus Customer. But it is a generous offer by Optus, so I guess I'll say 'yes' lol

    • It's not that easy as you need to have passed Optus's requirements before they will cough up the money and it varies from state to state and also depends on what was leaked.

Here in Victoria I registered my drivers license with Vicroads that it had leaked and ticket a box saying I want a new one. That'll do for me, I'll just wait it out from here.

Doesn't sound like the data has hit the dark web at all, so fingers crossed Optus paid a ransom and the "hacker" stuck to their word.
