Keen to hear people's thoughts/experiences with this model

    • bought the EHPD7 7KG this May, quite happy with the build quality but the lack of reverse rolling (I mean the tumble spins in reverse direction) is a pain…

      • +2

Even with the EHPD80 it only reverses for 20-30s, so if you want to prevent "balling" particularly with the larger items like sheets, it's still important to take the items out and untangle them during the cycle

        • +1

          that's a pain in the arse……….

      • +1

        Thank you for the feedback.

Don't understand why companies price bigger models to be cheaper than the smaller models :(

        • +1

the cost is roughly the same. just depends on how popular they are and how much they can sell it for….. pure business

          • @HD9990: And also how much they can manufacture it for…they might have particular design elements or manufacturing processes that make the EHPD80 cheaper to manufacture…I'm purely speculating here

It's great - obviously it takes longer than a condenser or vented dryer - drying a mixed load take 1h 40 minutes - but much more energy efficient and you can drain the hose in the laundry sink rather than manually emptying the reservoir.

It has a timer function as well, so I can set it to run during sunny periods and I get to dry clothes for free - very userful in Melbourne where it can take days to dry clothes on a rack.

      • +1

I find that a mixed load always starts saying it will be 1hr40m for the full cycle but i find it never runs for longer than about 1hr15m. Thanks to the humidity sensor it always run for a shorter time and stops once the contents are dry.

    • Love mine, still going strong.

    • Bought this back in June from Bunnings
Great unit so far, no issues

    • Really good machine, just remember to frequently (every few weeks or so) clean the secondary filter/condenser fins accessible by a little door on the front.

I didn't read the manual closely and didn't realise there was a secondary filter and accessible condenser. My god was it clogged up!

      • How do you clean it? Not sure I have the same model, but it says not to touch the silver part I think

        • I think that panel is just so you can use a vacuum/toothbrush to clean the fins.
Mine seemed to have a rumbling fan then I did this, ran it for a bit without the panel and its good as new.
(Can't see a secondary one anyway,)

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: I just use a stiff brush, while being careful not to bend the fins.

    Doesn’t post to ACT, damn.

Also there was some discussion previously on why this model is/was often cheaper than their 7kg heat pump dryer, EHDP7. I’m not sure if the reason was ever clear. Anyone got insight on that?

    • From memory someone mentioned the 8kg version doesn’t have the humidity sensor, thus no auto dry.

      • +1

It does have a humidity sensor :)

      • I think they thought it didn't have one because it wasn't mentioned in the manuals - but @shaq1 has clarified it below…

    • Yeah no go to QLD either

  • +1

Going through ebay I assume this will just be standard courier delivery? I.e. they won't bring it inside the house for you etc unlike if buying from actual store or online store?

    • +2

I bought through eBay, and they unpackaged and installed it for me, and took away all the old packaging

      • +2

Same experience here, They unpacked it and stacked it onto my washer. They took all the packaging.
Just a heads up, Mine had some water in the base of the machine so have a mop handy when they bring it in.

        • i thought you shouldnt stack a heat pump dryer on a washer cause they're too heavy? would love to know how yours is going, as i'm short on space and would love to stack mine as well!

          • @illiterate: I purchased one of these https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/282102267589 and stacked it on a samsung 9kg washer. I have used the dryer and washer at least a dozen times since it was stacked with 0 issues.

          • @illiterate: Not sure where you've come across that advice, as I've seen it commonly done, and do so myself at home and have had no issues.

            • +2

@inasero: oh my god, you are right. i was getting confused between wall mounting and stacking. tyvm - i can now buy a heat pump/condenser dryer without worrying about space <3

  • Bastards don't ship to Tassie.

  • hmmmm, the specs sheet doesnt show how many watts it uses…

    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/public/manuals/EHPD80-Es…

Does anyone know the wattage ? its time to replace the 2000w clothes dryer from 2015

    • +6

I’ve observed it draw a max of 730w. I put a watt meter on so that’s direct from that reading over the course of a few cycles. It settles around 250-300.

      • +1

Thanks for sharing. Thats very good.

      • +1

Just an FYI - that is power draw and doesn't mean the amount of heating/humidifying that is occuring.

        • Yep. The actual amount of heating that is going on will be 4-5x higher due to the heat pump COP (coefficient of performance).

  • Had no idea about heat pump dryers, avoided having one due to traditional power consumption. Bought one as available in vic - thanks so much!

  • Got one of these recently and early impressions are good. We had a 2 year old F&P washer/dryer destroy itself and swapped for a cheap washer and cheap dryer (being this one). It's a heck of a lot better than the F&P dry function ever was.

  • Bought one from Bunnings couple of months ago, works great!

  • I have one of these. It seems to think the items are "dry" before they actually are and reduces the drying time and stops the machine. I then check the items only to discover they are still damp and need to be run a second time.

    • Yes, has anyone worked out how to not need to keep putting it on multiple times?

      • +1

There is a mode where you can manually preset your favourite - "My Cycle". Also increase intensity of the drying with the "Intensity" button

  • Was quite happy until 2 years later it kept stopping says water tank Full but actually it's not.

  • Sorry for the n00b question, but it's coming up as $717 on ebay for me?
I've tried applying the HGSNS code on checkout, but no difference: "Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again."
    What am I doing wrong?

  • Can you just stack this on a normal washer? Or is it too heavy?

  • Has anyone experienced a significant amount of room humidity being generated by this unit, almost as if it's not condensing properly. I've requested a service call for the one I purchased in the last deal. It also heats up my laundry quite a lot when running.

    • Yes. Same experience here. Have to leave the laundry door open otherwise the humidity builds up. Is this normal or should I give them a call as well? Cheers

      • +1

I've used more expensive Heat Pump dryers in the past and never had this issue so I'm not sure if it's because this is a cheapie or if it's actually defective. In either case I'm not super happy with it spewing humidity into the house which is the whole reason one gets a condensing model over a vented. I'll update when I've had the service call.
