  • Anyone know if we can use this as a credit card spend? (Looking to reach the minimum 3k spend with my westpac card for bonus points)

    • When is your 3k spend due?

    • +7

Buy an ounce of gold and 10 oz silver. that should get you over the line.

    • i wouldn't. if this is insecure as the other prepaid mastercards out there it will get spent before you have a chance to use it. you should also check out what the t&cs say regarding disputes

      • +3

Are you referring to the physical prepaid MasterCards people were buying and finding they were already used?

Don't know how they're going to do that with a digital prepaid MasterCard without brute forcing (in which case, all cards are at risk).

        • +1

yes, like https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/721415 . someone could afford to get full service at healthy land massage with a $3k balance

Don't know how they're going to do that with a digital prepaid MasterCard without brute forcing (in which case, all cards are at risk).

that is why i mentioned checking the t&cs regarding disputes

I'm not sure but I believe brute force might be viable with those cards because they all start with the same digits and they all have the same expiry so the combinations are vastly cut down from a normal credit card. There would also presumably be no fraud detection for suspicious transactions as your identity/location is not linked to the card.

That being said, I used heaps of them with 0 problems.

    • Would love to know this too

  • Can you attach this to your Apple wallet to make payments?

  • Can amex be used to buy it?

    • no, mentioned in the description you can't use Amex

  • +2

I use special.com.au cards for which you can use Amex. No fees, can be added to wallets. I select shopper card which can be everywhere I use it in store even some pubs.

    • Can you explain the advantage of this strategy?

      • Advantage is that you don't pay purchase fees or any other fee when getting this card which is a Mastercard. Plus can use Amex to purchase.

        • So you're using it for cc churn to meet the spend to qualify for points or cashback?

          • @Bdawg: Mainly for points, particularly in places where Amex is not accepted or anywhere else since my Amex points $1 = 1 QFF which is better than my Vida CC. I would be careful using this for minimum spend requirements for bonus points since merchant type may not qualify. Check T&Cs.

Does it cost 5.95$ for every reload?

    • +7

Unusual placement of the dollar sign.

      • +1

Yeah, I was waiting for the AUD5.95

      • 😂

    • +1

You can't reload this. You can only load money to it once. It's a mastercard gift card and those are not reloadable.

You want a reloadable prepaid mastercard which this is not. This is only a gift card. Hence why it's called Mobile Pay eGift. It's like an electronic version of those mastercard gift cards you can buy at Australia Post.

      • Cool thanks

  • anyone know how long the value is valid for?

  • I get an error in the link. 406: not acceptable

  • Pity this wasn't a reloadable prepaid mastercard. That would have been cool. But this is just a non reloadable mastercard gift card.

  • Can i use this to complete my credit card churning?

    • I am

  • Hi @WookieMonster the gift card king. Do you know if there are any other similar offers to this one at the moment or any on the horizon? Cheers
