92 Wine Pilot: "The South Aussie designation immediately takes this wine away from the serious, ‘wine geek discussing terroir’ end of the spectrum. This is for drinking and enjoying. As such, it should offer terrific flavours and be good value. It delivers on both in spades.

A very dark red, we have notes of cloves, dark berries, black olives, cold tea, coffee grinds and chocolate. The palate is supple and moves towards appealing plummy notes. Good length and a flick of acidity to help balance things. Full of flavour, this is simple but seductive and while it might age well for three or four years, not sure why you’d bother. This is delightful to drink now. And it is cracking value. A contender for bargain of the year. 92.

    Geez as a South Aussie I take offence at that review, seriously WTF, SA makes plenty of wine snob grade wine!!!

      I think he is referring to the wine being labelled South Australian rather than from a specific region like, Barossa, Coonawarra etc. So with that label the grapes could come a variety of areas rather than a single region.

      But, yes of course SA has arguably the greatest snobbery wine in Aus - Penfolds, then there is Henschke, Seppelts and Bec Hardy, of course.

        @omblygombly yep you're right. On this occasion though the wine is from the Klavenik Vineyard bordering McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. So, essentially a single vineyard shiraz at $9 per bottle!. We use South Australia as it gives flexibility each vintage and in some markets label registration can cost a distributor hundreds of dollars, so for a variety of reasons, easier to keep as SA.
        @ESEMCE is also correct. SA produces over half of all wine for Australia and 80% of all the premium wine in Oz is from SA.

    Can't say anything about the Shiraz but I've recently been getting through a box of Bec Hardy Cab Sav.

    Absolutely hate it.

    At the price I paid I would do it again though, and I have jumped on this bargain too - thanks OP +ve from me.

    Going to need some help here… Stuck in Paypal/Shopify loop which never completes.
