Citibank Prestige CreditCard Application

Just wondering if anyone else has had as much of an issue with their recent application to Citibank for the current promo on the prestige card. This is my second time applying for a Citi card with the first being approved within a couple of hours this one is still "under review" after over a week.

Applied October 4th

Received an email with the application number etc, and links to a page that says "pending assessment"

Called the morning of the 11th and asked what was the delay. I was told they needed more payslips and then when talking to them they realised they actually had more than they needed which were provided during the application. Was told I would receive an update within the day, received nothing.

Called on the morning of the 12th (today). For some reason was transferred to the complaints department which told me I would receive an update by 1700 and my case was being managed as an urgent priority. Received nothing so I called again just prior to 1700, again I was transferred to the complaints department. Who stated that it was escalated under urgent priority and I would receive an update within 1-2 business days. When I pushed on the fact I was told I would receive something by 1700 they apologised for the delay saying there are a lot of credit applications.

    Why the desperation?

      The card comes with a minimum spend requirement of $7,500. I have travel costs that require payment that I have delayed to put on the new card to meet the rather large requirement. Further delaying is causing a larger cost that I'd rather not have to pay because of a delay caused by Citi which should not have occurred.

  • I'm having the exact same problem. My application has been pending since the 4th. I submitted all documentation at the time of application, received the email asking for the same documents I already submitted but nowhere to upload them.

    • Yeah basically give them a call because they almost certainly won't progress until they receive some missing information, even if there is no actually missing information. 1800 807 138

        • Received two very spammy sounding calls. Called that number after being given by some other department. Went through through security questions to be told everything is fine and it's being processed we don't need anything.

  • My citi rewards application has been pending since Sept 25. I'm planning to call them tomorrow. I never had to wait this long in the past to get an approval.

    • Something is holding it up, they probably need more info like pay slip or asset figures and proof

      • Yeah, I called them today and they wanted to verify my full name which they've already called me about 2 weeks ago! Oh well, they said I should get a resolution of my application most likely today or in 24-72 hours.

  • I got one within a week early this month, approved and card sent home

  • The Australian Citibank businesses are now owned by NAB.

    Probably teething issues with the switch.
