Vibration motor issue?
You don't notice when you receive a notification due to poor vibrating motor
Seems you might have got a faulty one.
Per my experience its vibration is better than the Samsung Watch 4 I was using before. Better raise a warranty claim if yours is still under warranty.

Be careful with that statement. While Google say older devices may be "eligible" it requires the manufacturer to want to write a completely new companion app, develop the build, release and support it. Mobvoi have not committed to any of those things.

They're working on their announced W5-powered version, yes. I'd just be a little sceptical that a company of Mobvoi's size would put resource into the work required to update old hardware. Happy to be proven wrong, but they've not yet said they will. And buying something on the rumour of a software update often doesn't end well.
