The Falcon was resting that day.

    I’m going to downvote too.
Took out their Black rewards card a couple of years back.
It was so hard to to obtain the card, activate it, go to branch 3 times, deal with clueless staff & unreliable computer systems.
Vowed I’d grab the points & never use ANZ again.

  • no one apply. They are reducing their incentives

ANZ credit team are absolutely horrible and useless, sent my application in a previous deal, it took more than 2 months for them to sort it out, throughout that time they called me for updated payslips because of their fault of taking so long to complete my application, even after completing this, they at the time have no way for you to contact them , only an email addresss that they do not respond to. When they eventually did contact me they hung up on me for no reason whatsoever and sent me an email saying they tried to call me and again no way for me to follow up as they didnt respond to email, only after 1-2 weeks each time. They eventually did give me the points but did not give me the cashback. They claimed that such a deal never existed. So i never got my cashback. I would strongly suggest if you do take this deal, get screenshots of the deal and offer as proof. Would not recommend!

  • Is it normal for the letter of offer not mentioning the $255 cash back and the 160k QFF points?

  • Anz trying to sell this as an offer…
Can get a better deal if you're an existing customer, it's in your offers

    • The 160k points for $3k spend deal in the ANZ app expired

This is the deal in the app at the moment, same as the website.

      • Would like to apply for this, does it still exist ?
Are you able to send a screenshot ?

    ANZ? Never again!

Not going to neg this offer, but in terms of the application process, ANZ operate it like they don't want your (anyone's) business.

Not because of checking, which they need to do, but that you can't call and speak to the credit cards team, you can only leave messages for them to call you back. At some unknown time in the future. Or send an email, which again doesn't resolve the situation. Then they may
    - not call you, in which case you chase them up again
    - call you, but you're not available, in which case you have to restart the process and leave a message for them as they don't try again

And when things drag out so long, and/or they've made too many mistakes and not resolved correctly, so you try to complain… they don't even log and address that as they're supposed to, but again just leave a message for the credit team.

If you magically sail through the application process without issues, then it will be fine, but if they want to check anything for whatever reason, there's a fair chance it won't go as smoothly as it would with other banks.

    • That’s quite opposite to my recent experience for the 160k deal. Applied Sunday night, called ANZ on 132 273 the Monday afternoon to confirm they received the payslips and they processed the application over the phone and approved within 20 mins. Honestly one of the smoothest experiences I’ve had with ANZ over the past few years, I guess it just comes down to luck.

F U Qantas, release some more premium cabins already! What's everyone's strategy for earning points that can be used for decent flights? OS airlines maybe?

    • +1

Oh well, unfortunately you got no many options. Qts (and jetstar) are local airlines for us and one of easiest to collect (and save) the points. Another option is velocity virgin but you can judge them yourself.
Overseas option is Krisflyer which is very good airline but the points expiry is quite bad (the points you got 3 years ago will get expired).
Or last one is Asia Miles (Cathay) which has similar expiry system as qts.
All those overseas mostly got the bonus points via Amex cards (as from day to day spent, not flight tickets which you wouldnt spent daily)

  • ANZ is the worst credit card company I've dealt with. Card activation couldn't be done on the app or over the phone, then took 2hrs over two days in-branch.
Suspicious transaction was reversed quickly, but subsequently they changed that decision and re-charged it, but didn't tell me. Took multiple phone calls over the course of a week before they finally agreed it was suspicious and I got the transaction permanently reversed. Still came up on my statement as owing while it is was being disputed…
Have had zero issues with other companies, even AMEX was better…
Would not recommend ANZ unless it is $0 annual fee offer.

  • ANZ approved me for a limit of $16k a year ago, and for this card they’ve said they will only approve me for $1,000. 😂 Basically an unobtainable deal.

    • WTH? Even Latitude 28 degrees has $6,000 limit.

    • Have you cancelled that one before applying for this? May be something change in your current financial situation vs last year?

      • Yup, cancelled a few months ago. No changes except a small pay rise. They said lending criteria has tightened and the cost of living has increased.

      • Westpac just approved me for $16k, and Citi approved me for $30k a few months ago, so I'd say it's an ANZ speciality.

    • You can load 4k onto the card to spend 5k

Also worth pointing out that I got a full refund of the fee by asking in live chat after cancelling the card (just did the 160k offer)

    • Does ANZ have live chat on Internet Banking? I don't see that. Only option is send them a secured email.

      • It's only in the mobile app for some reason.

    • How long did you hold the card for before cancelling? Its news to me that ANZ allow for full refund, best we've heard so far was just NAB refunding on a pro rata basis.

      • about 6 weeks, cancelled as soon as the points were deposited.

      • I cancelled after four months and they gave me a full refund.

  • Anyone know if you can immediately use after application success for online purchases?
Mentions setting pin for apple pay etc but not for CVV

  • These deals are becoming more stringy by the week. No longer classify these as 'deals' anymore.

  • I find it interesting how people say the application process is a chore.. I’ve always found it standard.. enter your licence details and submit your 6 payslips.. just like.. every other credit card I’ve ever applied for.

But lord. They always send me a card without a customer reference number, pin, or telecode set up. So I always have to ring up and be put on hold just to get my CRN and complete setup.

    It’s really quite annoying.

Especially since their hold music makes my ears bleed profusely.

    • open a progress saver so next time you are an existing customer

but yes, that is annoying and their system is shit. I had to call to get my CRN reactivated, but have since opened a progress saver.

      • Thanks, I will! 7th card deal and won’t be the last so whatever helps me never ever have to hear that screeching hold music again.

  • Anyone know if you Bpay Energy bill via the app, if it's treated as cash advance or any fees?

    • +1

Wasn't charged any fees and got points for it.

  • Spend more money to get less points? Nope. Not to mention the pathetic customer service offered by ANZ.

  • Is paying rate notice a government charge and not eligible toward the point? Anyone knows?

    • Pay directly from CC will not eligible. To workaround this, you can try pay via BeemIt or Sniip. Try with a small amount first before commit large sum.

      • Right. Thank you. Amex Qantas does reward you 0.5 point for any government payment…

  • Anyone else have trouble receiving their complimentary lounge passes? Their concierge phone support were pretty useless and just passing the buck back to Qantas

  • Probably won't see 180k bonus Qantas points offered by ANZ again.
Seems that in October 2021 ASIC introduced a new product-governance framework.

"ANZ’s market share grab [referring to the 180k offer of 2021] comes ahead of the October deadline for the start of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s new Design and Distribution Obligations regime, which requires financial groups to have an adequate product-governance framework to ensure products are sold to the right people, and for companies to model target markets and monitor outcomes.

There are concerns that after October, ASIC may view a credit card that recovers the cost of overly generous sign-on deals by trapping a customer in a revolving high-fee credit line may as problematic".

Wonder if all credit cards won't have as great deals going forward…
