For those that missed out on the Voxelab Aquila X2 the other day, I found the Voxelab Aries for $280.69 and there is a $50 dollar voucher which takes it down to $230.69.

Don't know if its better than the Aquila X2, but it should be ready to print straight out of the box. Any one have any experience with this one, would love to hear it!

Interesting, I just checked out a couple reviews on youtube and the gist seems to be that this printer is more beginner friendly but can't be modified in some of the ways the Aquila/Ender can (can't change hotend, firmware seems locked down, a few other things) but is probably a good first printer if you aren't the tinkering type.

I set up my Aquila X2 last night and it prints beautifully. It looks like the mechanical parts of this one are very similar. I would recommend this deal for anyone that missed out

    • How long did setup take?

I'll chime in here as I also just bought the X2 the other day.
Background: No experience in 3D Printing, no prior research done, just knew it was a thing.
It took me about an hour to assemble and within minutes was printing a test print from the included Micro SD card. Make sure that when doing the wiring you make sure that you don't mix up the Extruder cable and the X Axis cable. Both can plug in the same place.

I haven't 3D printed in years but it took about the same amount of time for me, an hour or so. Would definitely go a lot faster with a helping hand to hold and position parts though :)

@SleepingOnline: 100% this. Either that or a third arm.
Coming to think of it, i could probably 3d print one 🤔

I really wished that this had the aquila mainboard so its not closed down which is disappointing becuase it has the form factor I want. Decisions!

Thanks @aznsniper. Will be 1st printer, at 230 bucks Happy to dip in and give it a go. Jumped in V early this morning, after a lot of research, but lets be honest, it started at the original Anycubic post.

I've read up/watched/reddited on the pros cons, reviews, things that might and have gone wrong, I kind of think those are universal and acceptable. I looked at the voxelab software, looks workable for a beginner, also took a look at Cura (found profiles) and the Aries documentation. Discovered there are a number of really helpful YT channels that have some gold nuggets embedded on this machine and printing in general. Been slowly getting an understanding for a while, went real hard on research last AM.

This is for me at the price point, where you may have been wondering about it and internalizing about which model to go for in the 300 - 800 range and not really wanting to commit large, and this I reckon its probably at a really good compromise between price, quality and features. (just wish the bed was a little bigger)

I did read that no more firmwares were coming out for this, so take note on that, however, it to me would not seem to be too illogical that you wouldn't be able to replace the mainboard and a lot of the parts at a later date, however, finding the small bits for existing parts without retrofitting might be difficult.

Oh yeah, these originally retailed at 360ish to 399 USD on their website, - I'd suggest they are probably end of line and at a sensible price point.

    • the wifi connectivity of my Aries is bad. connection often automatically disconnected.
Also when i tried to level it, it required me to press the next button 2-3 times before the printer reacted. but printer response to buttons of other functions ok.
      Anyone having the same issues?

      • Sorry haven't pulled it out of the box yet, - that might be a tomorrow thing at this late stage of the evening. - I watched a yt vid that showed the touch screen registering a bit strange with a finger, (but fine with an allen key) - and where the nozzle height calibration jumps around a bit when pressing the buttons. So these seem to potentially be known things. I've seen /read other things that mention it not playing nice with some routers and not being being compatible with some 'higher security' wireless standards (or something similar) - I take it you updated the firmware over wifi? - anyhow, Ill report back after I give it a whirl.

        • Any thoughts? Have you set it up?

          • @aznsniper: I've gotten it set up, updated the firmware over wifi no issues. Have not actually levelled or printed anything yet. Life has been a bit hectic recently. I am planning on some test prints tomorrow. I do have several access points, 5ghz and 2.4ghz, Its currently connected to the 2.4 and now lives on a shelf inside a server rack cabinet. Not seeing any touch screen issues. Voxelmaker will happily talk to it over wifi and 'sees' it at least.
