OG Xbox One Power Brick

What have you replaced a failed power OG Xbone brick with? Apart from EB Games used ones for $80 (wtf?) all I can find is knock-off aftermarket ebay ones, all with pretty sketchy reviews - anyone had experience with these?

I have hooked up an old xbox 360 slim brick for now…although its underpowered in wattage it seems to work ok…anyone else done this hack over the longer term?

cheers

People with old consoles usually buy a few of the same console second hand for spare parts like the power brick, maybe look on gumtree and ebay to try your luck.

Maybe later, for now I'm focused on getting another power brick for my xbox.

Unlucky. I didn't think that was a common failure point. Surprised the 360 power brick works as a temporary solution. You could find someone selling a dead console for parts but you obviously want to ensure their power brick isn't bricked either 😋

    • pretty common failure apparently. ripped it open and can see one of the caps has gone bad. cbf with resoldering etc atm, just looking for cheap reliable replacement that wont burn down my home. For future reference, 360 works fine after you make it fit by prying the connection points open a few mm - the plugs are the same dimensions. Youtube of full of how toos - use a screwdriver and crack it a little, takes all of 30 seconds. should work indefinitely but it has like 2/3 wattage capacity; only problems i can forsee is 1) that it may cut power (brownout) if you are running some games that draw too much CPU power 2) if it runs at near capacity all the time it will shorten the lifespan, cheers
