  • Note the weatherproof rating on these is IP44

  • It's a shame that these things don't come in a solar powered version.

There are a number of reviews on Amazon of these not lasting long (<2 years) and the plastic not being UV stable and fading…

    • true - saw that.
rolled the dice anyhow, the units come with a 2 year warranty.

Yikes - 2 years for lights costing $150 each? Seems like a huge amount of money compared to installing a more sturdy product that takes standard bulbs and whacking in Lifx/regular Hue/Wiz bulbs.

        • That's a great idea …

@djc: Well Yes that’s an option except then you have to run 240v to the fittings that house the normal 240v hue bulbs, which is neither simple nor diy. You can’t just run a mains cable through the mulch and bushes like you can with these low voltage fittings.

            • @MaxStinge: Not with that attitude!

But no, fair point. But if you do the digging, which you have to do to some extent anyway with these Philips things, then a sparky is not going to be a huge amount more than $150 per light and then you have a permanent long term solution.

  • Hmm. These look particularly stealable on the face of it. New mains adaptor and off I go.

  • What's the output of the included transformer?
