Everything is crap in comparison to what JB was offering IMO

    • -1

      “was offering”.
Compare with the current offers, unless willing to wait.

      • JB still the same just without the pre order bonuses worth around $250. Meaning you can still get the phone for $999 and 5% discount gc, so around $75-100 cheaper than this deal without points
Or if you wanna spend more time, you can get the phone for $800 with instant termination from HN

I guess google one membership route turns put to be cheaper i.e. 10% off from the price and you get 10% good one credit as well.

  • Was waiting on the telstra + reward promo for the pixel 6 pro thinking it would be cheaper after the release of the 7 pro but nothing was advertised. so decided to take the plunge with the 7 pro with the google $300 credit offer + one 10% offer. Very please with the phone so far although it did freeze when pausing a movie in disney+ app twice. Had to reset the phone. It hasn't played up every since i reported the incident to google.

  • Can you combine with trade offer?

P6P $525 trade + $300 bonus plus this offer makes for a very cheap upgrade!

Edit - oh pish.. trade requires active service which I just dropped….

    • +1

Still interested in a confirmed, I have an active service.

Edit: spoke to someone on chat, got them to confirm it and have saved the chat as evidence. YMMV

    • Pretty sure you can combine, based on comments from the previous deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/730502

If you don't have an active service, get a $2 prepaid SIM for activating the deal, then dump it

      • I don't think you get the extra $300 bonus by doing it that way. Just the value of the phone.

        • See my link. Plenty of people are getting the $300 bonus plus the value of the phone they trade.

          • @klaw81: I think it's get the trade in value + $300 and then pay off the remaining cost with Telstra points.

            • @harrybard: it looks like the only way to use Telstra points is through the Rewards Store which doesn't appear to have an option to trade in a device. can anyone confirm if this is not the case?

      • Do you need to recharge the $2 prepaid SIM? I bought one, activate it and it says
"You don't have an eligible account for trade-in
We're sorry, we're not able to offer you a trade-in at this time as you don't have an eligible service with us."

        any tips?

        • I believe the $300 trade is only if you have a post paid service.

    • Curious about this as well. Double whammy would be excellent!

Google One members get a 10% at the moment

  • Would be good if a BIG hot offer for pixel watch was available, would consider it

    • If you got the phone during the first week directly from Google you would have had the phone for 10% off, plus 10% credit (if you signed up for Google One) plus $300 credit which could have been applied to the cost of the watch, bringing it down to $249 outright.

      • Good deal if you want the phone :)

        • I do, hence why I have it 😉

  • HN Optus deal when terminating immediately seems better or am I missing something?

  • I am trying to use my points but Telstra does not allowing me to redeem points and taking on 12 months plam as I don't have Australian passport or driving licence so frustrating…

  • -1

    I just checked my points, $792 + 92,500 points…
Still loving the S22 Ultra though..

  • Stupid Telstra and their dumb requirements for ID uploading…

  • how can we combine this with the $300 telstra trade in offer?

    • did you have any luck?

      • No idea how haha if I could then I'd buy

hopefully someone can correct me but it looks like you'll have to go through the Rewards Store to purchase the phone with this discounted points offer and there's no option to trade in a device whereas purchasing the phone through the regular Telstra website store has the device trade in option but doesn't have the option to use the Telstra points.

would anyone know what the step 2 titled "Credit" page entails when attempting to purchase the phone through the regular Telstra store? it's the step after you verify your ID details and get a credit check done. i'm really hoping there's an option to use Telstra points on this step 2…

      • Even if you were buying the phone without rewards, you cannot apply the credit immediately. You pay for the device and then get the credit back in a couple of months time.

I spoke to Telstra chat who confirmed that I will still be eligible for the trade-in offer. Have saved our conversation should I not get the offer but to be honest, I am not sure it will be that straightforward, so keeping all the evidence.

        • yeah that sounds about right. i'm more referring to the instance where you'd want to take advantage of both the $300 trade in offer on top of the discounted Telstra points offer, which doesn't seem possible from what i've found or are you saying that Telstra chat said it was possible?

also found this that might help your case, just on the trade in page.

          • +1

@thevietjesus: Telstra chat said I would still be eligible for the trade in promotion even if I bought the phone through rewards store.

Time will tell if the money makes it into my bank account, otherwise i have all the chats to help my case.

            • @fatal3rror: thanks for clarifying, that's actually interesting. is there an option in the Rewards Store/checkout process to specify that you're seeking to trade in a device?

            • +1

@fatal3rror: I'm in the exact same boat..waiting on Kingfisher to send my parcel.

Hoping to see $325 credit for my cracked s8 and not $25… If not also have the chat to argue it.

              • @Canberran: As thought, my phone bill came in with only $25 credit. Telstra Chat at the moment trying everything to pull the stops.

"You sent your phone in 27/10 inside the promotion period BUT AusPost only delivered to us on the 01/11 outside the promotion period"
"You need an Upfront Mobile Plan" [Even though the T&C just states "eligible service]

EDIT: Chat resolution after escalation: "It will 100% apply on your SECOND bill (due December)." So let's see!

                • @Canberran: So at least the $25 applied to the phone through Telstra Plus?

                  • @lolcoaster: I mean, $25 through kingfisher is kind of seperate, I would have gotten $25 regardless of any purchase as that was my broken S8 valuation

            • @fatal3rror: Did it make it into your bank account yet?

              • @lolcoaster: It comes out of the first bill. So $25 off my November bill and when I raised with Telstra Chat they took an hour to confirm $300 (promo bonus) should come off my 2nd bill (December).

                Will keep this thread updated.

                • @Canberran: I'm still trying to get my trade-in satchel sent out so I really don't want to be still fighting them on my current issue then fight with them again for the $300 off later lol

                  • @lolcoaster: Have been DMing another OzB member in your situation. They don't send out a satchel (even though I remember it staring they would). I got an email from Telstra with a barcode to scan at a Post office.

Anyway, good luck. The deal stated to have accepted the quote and send within 10 days of accepting, but not sure why they weren't sending out emails.

Do note that your phone probably needed to have some value for it to work (I was quoted and received $25).

                    • @Canberran: I got a successful screen but there's no email.

Didn't know about the barcode only but still would like it fixed anyway

  • I've been holding off on this until closer to the supposed end of offer date of 21 Nov to pay my next Telstra bill and get a few more points to put towards the offer. But it seems the discounted points are no more. 128GB is back to 463,000 points Min. 9,800 pts + $1,272.

EDIT - well that is odd. I obviously had to sign in to my account to view the rewards store and there was no discount. I went to other pages, refreshed page etc but still original points. Jumped on to Telstra chat and while waiting for a reply I was logged out of the site - signed in again and magically the discounted points are showing again. Crisis averted. I really need to upgrade from my Pixel 3.

  • Does anyone know if I can use the device on other networks (e.g. Vodafone)? I was told by the online agent that there's the device unlocking fee. Can anyone please confirm?

Customers can unlock their Telstra Pre-Paid mobile, iPhone or mobile broadband device so it works on another network - but if it was activated on the Telstra network for less than two years, we charge:

$80 for devices never activated or only active for six months or less
$25 for devices activated for six months to 2 years
Free for devices activated 2 years or more

    • I mean, I doubt that it is network locked. Pretty sure it's just the standard Google out of box SW.
