Solar System Advice Sydney NSW

Hi all

I been getting lot of quotes for 10kw system in Sydney. I want to know how this quote prices stack up?
The below quote seem to me as the best price / option so far. Others have quoted well over $12K for same setup.
Quote 1
25 x Jinko Tiger N-Type 66TR 415w
1 x SolarEdge Genesis 8250 Inverter
Does not include consumption meter.
$10,300.

Change SolarEdge to Enphase will cost $12,800 , I dont have any shading issue at the place.
Change to Qcell Peak Duo will add $1000 the price.
Change to Enphase inverter will add $2,500

I been getting quotes with Sungrow but speaking to them most seem to not recommend them.

Pluto is now considered a dwarf planet…

    • I don't think it's right to call so etching a planet one minute, then take it away again later on. Pluto's self confidence must be terrible now.

Was there any reason why the quote under sized the inverter? (8.25kW output vs 10.375kW panels)

    Suggestions:
    Get a quote from AHE - https://ahegroup.com.au/10kw-solar-system/

Fronius inverters are excellent for quality and monitoring

Undersizing the inverter is pretty normal as the 10kw will only be output at the peak times which will be for a few hours in the middle of the day. All the other times will be less.
As for me i have a 5kw inverter with a 6.6kw system. i think that's close to the maximum permitted 33% overprovision that's allowed.

    • Was there any reason why the quote under sized the inverter?

Standard practice these days is to put panels everywhere and have a smaller inverter as panels facing all directions will not peak for very long anyway. So it's more cost effective to capture slightly less than peak but for longer periods of the day.

    • Fronius are pretty well the best on the market, they rank #1.

  • STCs basically pay for all your panels (they will drop again in Jan 23).

So you should be paying for inverter, parts and labour.

My 6.6kw 2 months ago was itemised. I paid $3500 (excluding VIC rebates)

$1k for 5kw Growatt inverter Jinko 440W panels (basically free after STC)
$2.5k labor to install (including $500 to take down old system), took 3 guys half a day to take down old system and install the new one.

I been getting quotes with Sungrow but speaking to them most seem to not recommend them.

Solar installers likes to sell what they sell (because they think the marketing helps them sell systems).

Say what you will about Growatt (I had 2 installed at a rural property and they have been solid, there is a third one that is older also solid, that is why I installed one in my house too), I asked the same national company office in Melbourne and they swear they don't want to sell them but they are happy to install them in their rural office.

    • What do you mean by STC?

      • They are generation credits from the life of your panels. Google it. Will explain it all.

      • What do you mean by STC?

That's the money that the government takes from everybody in the form of taxes to give to only those people rich enough to own houses.

You probably haven't looked hard enough, the margin for solaredge and micro is much higher so it's easy money for some of the installers, look out for more of budget no frill one who do string system. Even 10k for the solaredge one is on the high end, I'd aim for $10k for 13kw string system (10kw inverter) if your roof can fit.

    • When you say high end for 10k solaredge.
What is rough price i should aim for?

Frankly speaking that quote for solaredge is quite decent but don't aim for solaredge or enphase if you don't have shading issue, just set benchmark for 10k for 13kw system if you can fit.
Remember marginal cost of 8kw or 10kw over standard 6.6kw is small because installation cost is the deciding factor. So aim for the largest system you can fit because no one regret having too big of a system but plenty got 6.6kw and wished for a bigger one.

        • Thanks for the insight.

Fronius was another system that was quoted for string inverter. I

  • Can’t help with this sorry but I’m looking for the cheapest 6.6 system I can find in NSW if anyone can help?

    • For 6.6kw system, i been quoted from 6.6k to 7.2k

      Jinko and Sungrow

      • Thanks I’m thinking something closer to 2k such as solar power nation.

        • Did you end up installing from solar power nation? In a similar situation, looks like their quotes are unbeatable.

          • @Dealking: no got one of the heat pump deals so working out what my use will look like before deciding. Also was hoping new govt would offer some decent battery rebate as part of election campaign but never happened. You?

      • did you end up installing?

  • OP: What did you end up choosing
