Please put price in the heading. Otherwise a nice first post well done.

  • Is this TV any good?

    • +1

Bauhn uses LG panels if I'm not mistaken so it should compare well to other screens in this price segment. Wish it was LED though…

      • +4

The panel is only one factor in the quality…

Cheaper and inferior electronics and software can give a really poor picture using the same panel as top end tvs…

        • Only if you compare it to Sony/Panasonic etc though.

        • +12

Yeah so what are we supposed to compare it to? An Etch-a-sketch?

        • i would say you compare it to something on the same cr*p scale.. i.e soniq, kogan, neon iq, vivo, bla bla bla list goes on.. :)

im really crap at etch-a-sketch … must be cuz i cant even draw a straight line

        • @lsdbeta That's one of the funniest comebacks i've seen on here!

They should make it law that they should supply up to 3 years worth of bug fixes to all firmware on all TVs, or alternatively, release the FULL source code to the firmware online to let the public/hackers fix it. Bauhn are a lazy company that WILL NOT FIX bugs. Will you, never…. or do we have to publicly out you and emberass you until sales drop sharply for you guys to fix bugs? Too many layers of outsourced components with fixed contracts and no obligation by 3rd parties to release fixes.

It about time all TVs were 100% android natively controlled, with as much stuff that doesnt need to be java/native code to be source based scripts, so people & hackers and fix and update them.

Or add dozens of kewl features the pointy eared knob heads at companies would never sign off or approve development off because of "NO RETURN ON INVESTMENT" garbage.

      • panel could be one of 4 different brands, AUO, CMO, LG or Samsung as that's what the factory that make this TV uses, which it is normally depends on availability more than anything else

  • Also where is link anywhere online?

    • Online only goes up to June 27 deals so I guess his catalog is ahead of the online site. I've seen that happen before on Ozb

  • i remember i saw this tv is only 50HZ

    • +9

Don't worry, humans in Europe and Australia have successfully watched TV at 50Hz since the days of black and white CRTs

+ve to OP for the first post. but i have had a few bad experiences buying small electronic stuffs from Aldi. seems the buyer of the electronic department is not as savvy as others like, say food stuff. so i d be extra careful when buying there, unless it is a known brand like Medion computers.

    • I'm a big fan of Aldi, but I agree - be careful when buying electronics from Aldi. Fortunately they seem to be pretty good with returns

    • I second this - a great deal, but Aldi has almost zero service for electonics. Be careful!

Horrendous gas guzzler. After the evil atheistic child-hating communistic carbon tax takes it's python grip on your wallet you will need to take a second job to afford to watch this.

    • +7

      Top rant!

    • I had to read it twice just to try and figure what he was going on about…..

      • Why he was going on about the evil atheistic child-hating communistic carbon tax that takes it's[sic] python grip on your wallet of course!

    • -2

Why the negs for this dude? Can only surmize the carbon tax propaganda has been effective for the socialists.

  • probably better off sacrificing 3 inches and paying $26 more and going with the sony - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/72870

    • +1

lol … Not a sony, and delivered from Germany!

I would be extremely hesitant to purchase something like this from overseas unless local warranty service was guaranteed.

    • +1

How do you find deals like that- Amazon Germany? Do you check out Amazon.de regularly or is it thrown up by a shop bot?

How come the computer translations that Chrome does for you is infinitely better than the translations that a human (presumably) does for English instructions for Chinese products?

      So many myseries.

    • +3

      Definitely NOT what she said

  • I think this wins over the LG 47" from Amazon Germany,if you don't care about 3D but care about a warranty.
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/72870?page=1
    - 60 day satisfaction return warranty.
    - 2 year warranty.
    - Cheaper and bigger screen.
Sure LG is better quality but it's still the worst of the top brands.

  • Mate bought an aldi TV. It has rubbish picture quality. It is much worse than say the DSE budget line of TV's.

    Food for thought.

    • each model is different even if the brand is the same, they way it is with these generic brands

  • This is another option if you really want led -
Sanyo 42" led $498,save $100 although i think it's been this price for a while.

  • Does this TV have programable recording to usb or do you manually have to turn it on to record?
