Advice and Direction - Need to Buy Cooler for 1080TI FE

I made a lil mistake - bought an asus 1080ti fe with an EK waterblock and the original blower cooler. BUT, backplate for original cooler and all the screws are missing, and watercooling is not an option. Card is immaculate otherwise and in perfect working order.

As it's a reference card (if i'm not mistaken) does this mean I can use any other 1080ti cooler assembly on it? also where could I get a donor fried GPU for salvaging the hardware and shroud work?

I have learned a lot about building computers in the past few years, this is me getting out of my comfort zone but I feel I might have made a mistake.

Looking forward to learning more from the discussion, and TIA!!!

    you don't need the backplate

only need to find the 4 screws of same size to fit the ori. blower cooler

    • so just get some screws that fit and mount it?

Yeah and don't forget fresh thermal paste on gpu die and thermal pads on vrms & mem chip if those were gone / dirty

    • thanks for the link! so am i right in assuming the reference card being relatively universal in compatibility?

  • I've found Esky brand to work well enough for all my cooling needs.

Try and get the largest size possible though, as the smaller models can need refilling quite regularly.

Seriously though, why the 1080ti? There's much better cards now, probably cheaper too - or is this a hobby/project type deal?

any good deals on Esky's? my nvidia brew needs chilling hahaha
yeah definitely a hobby-project situation. I also got it for a very good price so I'm not too worried. I've also started looking into running a very small custom loop just for the gpu.
