Bonus 1.85% p.a. Interest (Total 2.95% p.a.) for 3 Months on Netbank Saver Accounts (Activation Required) @ Commbank

4011

It seems like Commbank has increased their special rate for NetBank Saver accounts to 2.95% for 3 months.
To apply this offer, follow the steps below:

  1. Log into your Netbank
  2. Select "settings" in the top right
  3. Scroll down and select "Change account options"
  4. Select your Netbank Saver then elect the bonus you're eligible for from the drop down.

I know this isn't the best interest rate out there but for people who don't want to switch banks for whatever reason, it's better than nothing.

Thanks. Worked for me just like it did the prior 1.65% deal.

In before all the negs. To those who want to neg this deal: they're not trying to entice you as a new customer, it's for existing customers who already hold an account so is it really a bad deal to add some bonus interest?

For me, after clicking Settings it's under Product requests click on Switch account options.

??? You get 3.25% with ANZ Plus i.e. 10% more interest money and only for 3mths. If you're happy with a lazy tax, but it aint a bargain.

Not everyone who has one of these accounts is keeping all their savings in it. It's hardly going to attract any OzBargainers to open account with them, nor advertised as such.

This deal is irrelevant for people who aren't existing account holders. Is this really a bad deal for them?

Somewhat reminds me of all those people going into subs posts to neg and and comment "new additions to subs aren't deals".

This deal is irrelevant for people who aren't existing account holders.

I have an account with CBA, and I won't be parking any of my savings. So it's relevant to me and it's not a deal.

Is this really a bad deal for them?

Yes they can get a deal, a much better deal elsewhere.

The purpose of this site is in the URL It's not a deal. You're incoherent ramblings won't really change that.

"3 month Special Offer + 0.15%" for me, trash.

    • Although my wife did get the offer, so we switched hers. Thanks OP!

  • Think it's only if you have never had NetBank saver before too.

    Whys mine only .55

Pro tip: Don’t keep your money with CBA.

Lol, still have an account but it's a bit late all our cash is sitting in Ing now a long time.

Hmm this or a vanguard ETF…

2.95% you are loosing money. Inflation is way way higher hahahahaha
These saving account rates are a joke really.

  • +5

This is the 13th highest interest rate available for a savings account in Australia. And it only lasts 3 months.

    Not a bargain.

  • +9

I have to neg this as firstly even with the promo it's still a terrible interest rate and secondly the special rate is only for 3 months.

Edit: Just noticed it was targeted too! A bit of a turd sandwich if you ask me.

      agree. dog shit

Don't people see UBabk rate of 3.60% ?

Even if people think they might miss the move $200 a month in, you can do Macquarie which is 3.2% (plus a 3 month bonus of 4%). Years ago commbank used to at least be competitive but like most of the big banks, I think they are relying on lazy customers who don't shop around.

      • Well I have Macquarie bank as well…but 3.2% isn't as good as 3.6% :D

Now, the $200 you mentioned what I do is direct debit from my transaction account to ubank every month and then with 3 day those $200 credit back to transaction account so I use same $200 for last 3 years now I think… :D

Ubank has better rate and more account features, namely direct debit.

You upvote this, you hand in your ozbargain licence. Literally the most “expensive” bank in the country.

    • +1

Yes let's improve CBA's profit paying depositors less and borrower's more.

      and arguably most immoral.

    • No licence is required for OZB membership.

      • Wait, you’re browsing unlicensed?

CPI is 7.3%, interest rates will continue to rise. A crappy interest rate promo for 3 months is not a good deal. If you want a better rate change banks.

  • Do they support non-SMS 2FA?

  • Does anyone have the online spreadsheet comparison for interest rates? I saw it here somewhere before. Thanks

    Why the need to activate?
Do the banks need me to activate my mortgage before the rates go up?

  • In all fairness being the largest bank of Oz it is still less clumsy than Westpac, less deceptive than Macquarie and staff are at least trained to be respectful and friendly. Their cheapest gold card has a useful travel insurance and card use on travels works well. NAB's Ubank leaves it for stone dead!

  • why does people post CBA 'deal' again?

It is OZB, not for people who do not know how to switch bank for higher rates.

    • +1

Bots are everywhere, this is how a media company operates!

      • agreed. must be bot to vote yes for this 'deal'

    • Same reason that they post HN deals!

  • lol are they trying to insult their customers?

    • +1

      Ever banked with AMP ?

      • +1

        why would i want to?

  • Oh Commbank

  • +1

Doesn't deserve a post given the rate isn't even at market.

  • +1

Worth negging to let people know this is not close to market rates, and encourage them to consider finding a better deal.
