ING everyday has no account fees, no international fees, 5 free atm withdrawals, and starting October 15th, has 1% utilities cashback up to $100 a year. Not sure which one still needs the 5 transactions and $1000 per month deposit, but the bonus interest still requires the former + increase in Savings acc balance.
You can always bypass the savings increasea requirement by opening a second savings maximiser account.
Everyday (transaction account) has ZERO interest. Interest on your Savings Max account (4.8%) is payable if you meet the criteria the previous month.
Highest variable rate
For customers who also have an Orange Everyday bank account and do these things each month:
1. Deposit $1,000+ (from an external source)
2. Make 5+ card purchases (settled, not pending) and
3. Grow their nominated Savings Maximiser balance (excluding interest).
Available on one account for balances up to $100,000 with the additional variable rate applied the month after eligibility criteria has been met.Grow-your-balance: in the month you know that you'll fail this criteria, transfer balance-OUT within the last-few-days of THAT-month (say Oct-25): ING-investment still earn the HIGH-interest, with the closing balance is $0 ish.
NEXT-month (say Nov-25) transfer in $1…this's your sacrificial-month with ING. But your investment still earn interest income elsewhere, but @ a LOWER-rate.
FOLLOWING-month (say Dec-25), transfer-IN your investment within the 1st few days.Criteria, https://www.ing.com.au/savings/savings-maximiser.html
@ab c: This is not the way to do it.
Open a second savings maximiser account.
Any month you aren't going to increase your balance, nominate the second account as your interest earning account for the following month, and deposit 1 cent into it.
On the first day of the following month, transfer all your balance to the second account and earn full interest.

Yeah ^ What gives?!
Often there's a waiting period involved in bank promos, eg 2 years. Best to ring and ask.
Long time customer with ING (10 years) and they are now asking for 6 months of external bank account statement for KYC purposes - is this normal?
They are the only bank that asks for verification documents, none of the banks i have accounts with have ever bothered me with any KYC requirements.
When I was a customer they forced me to get certified copies of my ID and send them in. Then when I stopped using the accounts they forced me to close them.
how to force close account ?
Dunno, have never been asked in my 9 yrs with them. Austrac has ramped up pressure on banks to verify customers recently due to financial crime, esp money laundering.
They're not the only bank to ask for KYC, just the only one asking you currently.
Banks have no obligation to offer you their services, if you don't bother with the KYC requirements, they'll happily close your account. Its part of the anti-money laundering laws, but I'm not sure how they choose who to do the checks on. Is it a quota, or is it triggered by something that you did. Nonetheless, government requirement and all banks do it.
Signing up with this code gives them a signal that they can get away with only paying out $100 for a new customer instead of $200.
Can non-citizen like tourists apply for this?
Non-citizen definitly can, but ID verification would be easier if you have something like an Australian driver license.
Silly question but what denotes a transaction? Is it just an EFTPOS card or is it something I can load onto my Apple Wallet?
