Will this work with Apple Watch?

    • No. It does now support number share.

      • +4

        Instructions unclear.

      • Shame, I need a compelling reason to ditch Optus, but I'm on 100gb with number sharing for $46.25/month (used to include Optus Sport too).

        • If you can do with 40gb (then unlimited but slower) Vodafone lite will be $45 with mobile and Apple Watch plan.

          • @fozzie: I want to trade up mate, not down! Wouldn't touch VF with a 10ft pole.

            • +2

@The Judge: Ok, I thought you could do with less since this deal is for 30gb.

Your best deal would be one of Jb Hifi Telstra Deal then and add Apple Watch number sharing.

          So why comment

    • +1

No, not with Telstra prepaid. They lock that for post paid customers only.

        Bugger. Thanks for clarifying 👍🏻

will the $7.50 Shopback cashback work?

    • +1

No because you have to do it in the app

New to esims, what is the idea behind it?

I’ve been 28 day sim slutting for over a year now. Currently last few days of my boost sim. Looking for my next position

    • +3

No physical sim required. Just scan a QR code and a new sim is loaded onto the phone. You can turn it on and off as you like which means you can store multiple sims on one phone and activate them when you need them

      • Minor nit, the esim can also come as a code you copy and paste or a email attachment. Unrelated, it can only be activated once so don't delete it unless you're sure you'll never use it again

        • so you want switch an esim like you switch a physical sim ?

          • @dcep: You can switch it, I just mean if you delete it you need a new esim, can't reuse the code.

On most phones it let's you select which esim is active

      • Is it possible to move esim to another phone?

        • Yes. The Telstra app is actually really good you can switch devices by downloading the app on the new one and following the transfer / restore esim link. I’ve only don’t it on prepaid but.

        • If you mean when you buy a new one, yes the apple or android migration tool does it for you. Not sure if you can go cross platform though unless you use the carrier supplied software like Telstra does

        • Others on this platform have had trouble transferring

      • Most important point: Need a phone that supports eSIM. It's pretty much only flagships (or at least, "expensive" phones) that support it.

"Future recharges will be full price"

    • meaning starting from the 2nd recharge?
    • Yes, it's Tel$tra.

  • Asking for a friend:

    • Any 5G
    • Can you conference call
  • Does this last for 365 days as in can receive calls?

    • No - 28 days only.

    • Upto 6 months I guess.

  • +6

I salute those that change providers/SIMs every 28 days. That is dedication.

  • Has anyone gone through the process of signing up to this?

All I can find is a $30 prepaid plan and the option to select eSIM.

Are we paying $30 for the first month and then recharge for second month at $10?

    • The price $10 for the first month only , subsequent recharge at full price which is $30.

      • Is this through the website or the MyTelstra app?

I can't see anywhere during the sign up process for $10.

  • Anyone able to actually get this to work? I can't find anyway to actually activate this.

    • Just came to say exactly the same. So confusing! It seems like it’s done through the app but nothing there.

      • Yep, there's meant to be an option in the services tab of the app but it's non existent. Guess Telstra haven't set things up yet…

        • +1

I posted the same comment above you.

I’ve gone into the services tab of the app and there’s nothing in that tab (I’m an ex postpaid customer).

Clicking on “shop” just takes you to the telstra website.

So there isn’t actually a way to pay only $10 to get the $30 prepaid plan

    • No … & it says Activate a new eSIM service and you could be surfing the web in as little as 10 minutes with the My Telstra app.

Bet you spent more than 10mins trying to work it out.
Mine (ex postpaid customer) just says 'Nothing to see here'

      I'm assuming it works if:
      a) you start a fresh telstra id
      b) you already have an active physical sim / service or
      c) you didn't flip tables at telstra's off-shore chat staff when they terminated grandfathered post paid plans & put the price up 20%

  • Is this a deal really or am I missing something

  • This is good if you're travelling overseas

    • Hmm…doesn’t look like international roaming is included?

      • Wifi calling and SMS

      • +2

Can confirm from experience that a Telstra prepaid SIM card will be as much use as a brick when travelling outside of Australia.

Want that verification code from your bank while you’re overseas? Too bad.

Think that it’s 2022 and Telstra must have worked out what international roaming is for prepaid? Nope

Think that Telstra cares about their customers on prepaid? You gotta be kidding

Correction - brick is more useful, you can throw it at your Telstra prepaid eSIM

So I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the mytelstra app and did NOT sign in using my old telstra ID and the offer shows up in services.

As soon as I sign in, that offer disappears.

So this is only for completely NEW customers with NO existing telstra ID (current or inactive included).

  • Couldn't figure out how to buy it, to activate at a later date? Please help.

  • So it was available for only Postpaid customers till now.

Is this why Boost didn’t rollout eSim because they only have prepaid plans? Can we expect for Boost to follow soon?

    • Esim has been available on prepaid with Telstra since at least May

Found a way to access the $10 esim deal when nothing comes up on the 'services' tab.

Go to 'shop' tab —> 'explore' section —> 'shop by category' —> 'plan & devices' —> 'mobiles' —> 'esim'

Then select use esim on this device, jump through the hoops and eventually you should come across a step allowing you to select the $10 option

  • I've had a very long discussion with Telstra (and had to get TIO involved because everyone in the company had no idea of how this 'new' product works).

In a nutshell, from my experience, it seems that you need to have a Telstra ID account WITH an active service in order to be able to see this offer. So, if you have Telstra ID from a service which has since been disconnected, then you are out of your luck with this offer.

Not sure why they still can't allow new Telstra customers to get prepaid eSIM like Optus, Woolworths Mobile, and Felix have managed to do for quite some time now.

EDIT: It appears that xeee's comment might seem to allow you to go a bit further, although I'll be waiting for a bit before jumping into this offer, so I'm not sure as to whether it will allow you to complete the process.

    • You wasted how many hours and got the TIO involved to save $20? Really dude ?

      • +1

For me it was more about making them accountable to deliver what they advertised. Otherwise, they can go and clickbait everybody every single time without any consequences.

  • If I am with telstra prepaid right now with a normal sim, am i able to switch to e-sim? As all my phones used to be dual sim but this phone only has 1 sim (and a e-sim), i would like to free up the sim slot when i travel and use a e-sim for my normal account
