Australian Made Merino Thermals 30% Off + $9 Delivery ($0 with $125 Order) @ Ottie

200

Winter is over. Well maybe, kinda, sorta. So, we're running a bit of a clearance on our merino wool thermals. 30% off retail price.

Before you lose your sh*t and think "$91 for a top!!??" and "$105 for pair of merino bottoms?" our merino products are PREMIUM quality - read our reviews… we have 600+ and an average rating of 4.9/5 stars. They are made in Australia - Melbourne, in fact. We are Ethical Clothing Australia accredited - our workers are pair a living wage and enjoy great working conditions. And our wool is top-quality and responsibly sourced - our supply chain is Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified.

This isn't fast fashion. Our customers buy our merino because it's quality, responsibly made and sourced, and lasts the test of time. In fact, our first tees shipped just on 2 years ago and we're currently interviewing some of those customers to hear what they've been up to in their Ottie Merino tees and how they've stood up to 2 years of adventure.

  • How does this Merino compare to that when ALDI do their marino runs….?

    • +3

Hey Sachz - Please do read my spiel above. Our product is Aussie (and ethically) made and premium quality. Have a read of our reviews on our site and over at TrustPilot. What's more, our product is designed by hikers (and skiers and climbers and cyclists and campers) for hikers.

Nothing against Aldi, but their merino is pretty basic and made who-knows-where.

    • I've had my Aldi merino tops for about 5 years now. Just starting to fray around the collar. Wear them all the time, not just when skiing or hiking. And when it gets warmer I wear them as a long sleeve-T.

      • Glad to hear they're going well for you. :)

        • Yeah they are. The newer ones don't have the textured finish of the older ones so they don't look as good. The pants also get a work out when going to footy during winter. Game changer. I find that any merino is great because they don't stink up like synthetic material and they wick really well and if you treat care for them they last ages.

@freesteakknives: The odour resistance and wicking is what got me into merino a decade ago. I'm a sweaty guy and it's a godsend. Then, I couldn't find the perfect merino tee so went out and started Ottie Merino and made it myself.

  • The delivery fee is a bit off putting.

  • Wow 91 for a top!!?? and $105 for pair of merino bottoms!!!! That's crazy!!!

    Any bargains?

Hence it being a clearance, Mavis. Have a read of the spiel above. :P

That said, ideal time for folk who might be heading to NZ or Tassie to kit up with their 'just in case' thermals.

  • any chance of bargain price on the socks? 40% off and I will jumping on your site faster than an Australian worker who is not lazy.

    • Our socks are already reasonably priced for Aussie made merino.

our workers are pair a living wage and enjoy great working conditions

I’m glad someone is willing to employ locals instead of disguising cheap, disposable and commoditised imported labour contracts as “skills shortage.”

    • Thanks!

Recommendations regarding holes in Merino?? have bought quite a few from various brands but most end up with holes. Otto merino any more hole resistant or am I just merino'ing wrong? not sure if I should be throwing few more hundred into merino gear

    • +2

Maybe you use them already but using washing bags has made a big difference for me. Merino can be very delicate.

Before I used washing bags for my merino clothes, holes appeared way too easily.

We actually wrote a blog on this recently. Check it out:

      https://ottie.com.au/blogs/hiking-tips/why-does-merino-get-h…

    • Also make sure you use a gentle detergent and cycle. @MonocleMoose. I never thought of the washing bag. Great idea

      • Hear, hear. Anything you can do to go ease on the merino will help extend its life.

That said, don't think of it as being this fragile precious petal stuff. Merino can hold its own.

However, if you're investing good money in anything it's good to take extra measures to get a long life out of it.
