Automatic Coffee Machine Recommendations

Hey all,

I'm interested to upgrade my Nespresso Citiz coffee machine to something better and was hoping to get some input from others please. I'm after an automatic coffee machine as opposed to one where I'd have to manually grind etc.

At this stage budget probably up to 1k but I'm not in a rush and am happy to wait for the next big sale if there's a specific machine in mind.

Thanks in advance.

I've picked up a couple of fully automatic Juras (j9 and Ena 8) off Gumtree for around $500 each and they've been great, also found a Gaggia all in one cappuccino machine for ~$100.

There's tonnes of bargains on there if you're looking.
Although if you're after one with warranty the recent De-longhi offer on here was terrific.

There is a guy in SA who (I believe) must buy all the ex-corporate ones, services them (new seals etc) and sells them on Facebook. Bought our Jura Imprezza Z5 for $400 2 yrs ago and still going strong after around 5 coffees made a day on average.

Once you have had Jura black you'll never go back!

    • Any particular models that you recommend? If i can snag a decent one around your price range that would be amazing…

      • I got the Jura Imprezza Z5 as my first "real" coffee machine…works great but you probably need to look up a review coz there is just so much it does.

Has a great milk frother - there is no milk container built in instead you put a hose in a milk carton which may put some people off?. Considering I have 2 or 3 large cappuccinos a day with half milk having a hose to the 2L milk container is probably easier then constantly refilling any inbuilt milk container (if it had one).

There are a lot of settings too - eg you can preset the strength of the grind and the amount of milk and even adjust them on-the-fly if you want. There are a few preset coffees too such as small and large black coffees, cappuccino, latte, just hot water and just frothed milk. It has its own descaling and cleaning cycles too. It even reminds you to empty the overflow/grinds or refill the water tank.

Basically after having this machine I will be sticking to Jura in future.

edit: oh, I forgot it also grinds the beans

  • Curious to get perspectives on which auto machine is the best for flat whites - never seem to be any machines that make decent microfoam

I'm looking for the same for my mother. I don't like coffee myself, so have little knowledge on the topic. Hoping for some suggestions from Ozbatgainers.

  • Also following..

Couple have recommended the jura above. Would that be better than getting say something like this… The brevilles seem to also be quite popular on ozb

My only comment would be that I am not a fan of that Milk frother style, I found when using a friends the dried milk can build up and be difficult to remove. May just be my poor cleaning habits thought but that's why I like my automatic machine
