    Great machine.

Great price with cashrewards. I wouldn't put much value at all into the redemption bonus gift - with this machine you only get 500g of stale beans plus the online course (questionable value given youtube has better tutorials).

    • +1

The beans from the father's day promo I recieved were actually very nice I thought… but yes, agree the tutorial 'price' is significantly overvalued IMO…

  • +2

Worth the extra dosh for the impress?

    • +2

Yes. Auto tamping and automatic temperature function

    • +6

Not really, imho. Tamping is part of the art, and the point, of making your own quality coffees, in order to get it just the way you like it. The auto-dosing is still going to require trial and error, the same as taking some time setting up the dose for the standard BBE. If it was same price, maybe, as the extra feature looks like it solved one of the BBE's biggest issues of grind spillage - but that's easily solved with an extender for $15/del from Amazon.

-BBE owner, previous Breville Oracle user

Edit: Oh hey, just saw this $20 dosing funnel from Breville themselves on their site.

      • +2

Agree, I can't imagine how any auto tamp could possibly understand the required pressure for differing beans, stale/fresh etc..

        • +2

You tamp differently depending on beans ? Never heard of this

          • @piston3461: I think some coffee beans need to be ground finer and if not possible, tamped harder to get sufficient pressure for better extraction. I am still in the very early learning curve and unsure if tamping cannot be adjusted in this or the more expensive Oracle machine, adjusting the grinder settings should be the way to go?

            • @wtfnodeal: Yep, The grind plays a much bigger part in extraction pressure. As beans get older they will be harder to extract so you can grind them finer to try and combat this , but it’s better to just keep only a week or twos supply of freshly roasted beans on hand.

For tamping you just want it to be , moderately firm , level and consistent, I don’t think the pressures matter too much

        • According to this bloke, tamping pressure is not a thing. https://youtu.be/i70xWHhiFzI

The dosing funnel exists because they recognise the flaw in the express design - it's impossible to not make a mess without it, or something like it. The impress solves this problem imho. Using a funnel increases the number of steps required.

Yes tamping is "part of the art".. but by the 1000th coffee and trying to quickly make multiple in the morning while simultaneously making breakfast and organising kids - there is something to be said for automation. And more importantly, for repeatability.

I think getting it dialed in would be easy enough. I suspect most people don't mess with their BBE once they get a setting and source of beans they like. So being able to consistently produce the same result easily and without mess makes the impress a significant improvement.

        • BBE owner for 4 years, ~1000+ shots pulled per year.
        • I was looking to upgrade my Dual Boiler to the Orae for the ease of making morning coffees and the early rush….
But, but all accounts, I was told the Dual Boiler is a better option still.

I do like the process of making my coffee on the morning I have time or days off/late start

          • +1

@Spending2Much: Dual boiler BES 920 is really good. I am at 1800 coffees with it so far. It takes me only 2 minutes after machine warms up.

          • @Spending2Much: Yeah, get something like a normcore tamper… it'll simplify levelling and tamping if that's where your issues lie

      • That's a super cool thing, but useless for someone who doesn't have a BBE/SGP

    • +1

Yes if you want something that closer to an auto experience.

  • How does Cashrewards work? I created and account and bought this by going to Bing Lee through Cashrewards page. But the transaction or cashback confirmation doesn't come up in the "my rewards" section?

    Ty OP for the deal.

    • +1

Check your "click history", or wait for a tracking email. If you received nothing after 7 days contact CR support. They are very good, responsive and a pleasure to deal with.

      • Thanks for that. Seems like i may have to get in touch with customer support. Thr trasaction still hasnt showed up in my account.

  • Comes up as $590 for me, then claim 10% via cashrewards..

    Am i missing something guys?

    • Don't forget the promo code "CR10" - Brings it down to $531 then 10% of 531 = 53.1, $531 - $53.1 = $477.90

      • CR didn’t include GST

        • This is true, if someone can possibly work on a better calculation :)

          • @Snacky: 531 × 0.10 (gst) = 477.90 x 10% cashback = 47.79 CR Cashback

            $477.90 less 47.79 = $430.11

Let me know if I missed something or it is incorrect

            • @AirJordan23: The $47.79 should come off $531?

              • @beerbudget: It does not include GST, so I think you have to deduct that one from $531

            • @AirJordan23: $531 is the inc-GST price you pay to Bing Lee so the exGST price is $482.73, being $531/1.1. $482.73 is the exGST amount eligible for 10% cashback via Cashrewards and therefore the cashback amount is $48.27. Therefore the inc-GST $531 - cashback $48.27 = $482.73. If you are flying overseas and claiming TRS, the net amount is $434.46, being $482.73 - ($531/11).

      • Sorry mate.. where do i enter the "CR10" code?

        • +1

Go to order summary on top of the page, click on the small arrow/drop down and you will get an option to enter the code…(while ordering on your phone).

  • Great price

  • Cant see to see this $130 Breville redemption or am I blind?

  • For BBE owners, has anyone experienced a sudden increase in volume output? My double shot kept going and ended up filling up half my cup. Havent changed beans or messed with the grind settings so not sure whats happened. Did a inbuilt clean and will see how it goes tomorrow morning.

    • I feel it sometimes happens when I pull a shot just after switching from steaming (and haven't released the excess… steam? by eg. switching to hot water output).

Or it's just my feeing and the output is generally inconsistent.

    • Would be interested to see if you solved this problem..

    • In my case, i do 1 extraction then steam.

I think i have solved it by doing a combination of inbuilt clean and increasing the grind level by 2 but I dont if it was a combination of those two things or just one. I also dont have any other beans to try but i doubt it's the beans because this issue suddenly happened after not using the machine only two days. I weighed the output using kitchen scales and got around 60mls which is about right for a double shot.

    • Common issue. If under warranty, take it to the place you bought it from. If out of warranty, I'm happy to help if you're in Vic. I'm a local technician in Melbourne's northern suburbs. It's not too hard of a repair, you could attempt it yourself

  • +1

    The price is now gone?

  • +2

For those who got one make sure you redeem the gift pack straight away and don't wait until the machine arrives. all you need is a screenshot of the receipt

    • Any idea when the promotion items are meant to get shipped out?

      • +1

I got comfrirmation 12 hours after i submitted my reciept. The message said theyll confirm when the brans have been shipped out.

  • Anyones orders get shipped out yet? Mine is still saying "Pending Fullfilment"…

    • yeah, same here. I contacted Bing Lee via chat and they didn't say much but said they are close to shipping them out. Could be bs though.

  • They said this is clearance stock and the order might not be fulfilled…
