30L Rovin Portable Car Fridge/Freezer 12V/240V $219 ($201.48 with Coupon) + $8 Shipping @ Jaycar eBay

310

Return of Jaycar's excellent 30 Litre Rovin car fridge/freezer deal. I have one of these and I am pretty happy with it.
This model has capacity for a battery and includes an onboard solar controller, so you just need to hook up panels and you are good to go camping. Comes with both a 12v car plug and 240v wall charger.
Rovin fridges are extremely similar to Brass Monkey brand, both are manufactured by Alpicool, China. https://www.alpicool.com/product-22.html

Shipping is $8

    Thanks OP!

If you're close to a Jaycar with stock it also looks like they have the slightly larger one on sale
    https://www.jaycar.com.au/45l-rovin-portable-dual-zone-fridg…

Given you own one, can you tell us if it's compressor based or thermoelectric?

    • Thats interesting. They did a big promotion mail out for the 45 litre dual zone a while back and made a bid deal of the $349 price.
Guess they couldn't move them. Somebody seems to have ordered an absolute metric shipload of these Rovin fridges.

      • The cream colour version was $249..grey / black was $349…then $299. I rang Rovin direct last week to get a cream one at my local. Why on Earth would you want a black fridge? Now it's $249. .maybe they took note.

P.S. these have preset fridge and freezer sections with insulation in between. So you lose a fair bit of capacity. The more expensive offerings have a simple divider you can move to wherever you want for a bigger or smaller freezer. Could be why they are cheaper, but there is also a lot more cheap car fridge competition these days.

        • This one ? https://getrovin.com/gh2265_45l_rovin_cream_white_portable_d…
They call it cream and white but it seems to look the same

          • +1

@King Tightarse: Haha..yeah they just use a generic picture. But it is cream..and ah….white.

            • @tunzafun001: Right. BTW How did you buy it? No cart on the website but they show the price. You called them?
The model is GH2265 I think but I cant find any images of it

              • +1

@King Tightarse: Have to chose a retailer from their map on the Rovin website. Call them and ask to get it in. Rovin rep said the RRP was $249 for both colours, but apparently the darker colours have been selling better, so RTM/ Jaycar have kept the price higher. Fair enough..supply and demand I guess. Cream looks old school, but makes more sense. Your model number is correct.

  • Are Road Tech marine and Jaycar owned by the same company? Or did the same web developers do both of the websites are they are practically the same layout.
    Also how are these fridges?

    • 1/ Yes
2/ Pretty darn reliable although a bit plasticky and under-insulated but for the price: unbeatable

Been happy with this fridge, gets down to temp nice and quick, weird design with the compressor on top, with the lack of insulated cover it does lose temp pretty quick without power and the insulated cover is about $110 which feels like a lot for a $200 fridge. But good bang for your buck fridge

  • looks like the battery alone is more expensive than the fridge $229 on ebay for the 15Ah.

    • How does the battery work, how does the battery get charged up? is it using Via 12v car plug or need to be hardwired?

      • The fridge has a solar controller so it can be charged via a 12v solar panel, or in the car 12v outlet or via AC.

  • Anyone else get their order cancelled and refunded due to not enough stock? :(

    • It is still available to order although Jaycar seem to have changed the link and item number (have updated)

      • +1

Ugh, so if they have then then why cancel :( I used the Plusflash code yesterday to bring it down to $204 delivered, TOPITUP no longer works on this item. Seems I had a personal $15 coupon so that'll do.
