Looks like there is 15% off some of the MoonDrop range on Amazon. The Chu is amazing value for money if you want a respectable set of IEMs without spending too much. Competes with other Chifi IEMs in the $50-$100 range. Aria and Kato are also good value. Aria Snow Edition is on sale as well however not fulfilled by Amazon, but directly from Shenzhen Audio.

Internet has declared TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero as best value for money.

    • +3

That's not the endorsement you think it is

    • You have me intrigued. According to the list by "Bad Guy Good Audio" the Truthear x Crinacle Zero comes in at 89th place amongst the 130 or so that he has reviewed. At ~$50 USD it is also the most affordable. Seems to be on sale at Amazon.com.au for $62.04 if you're willing to wait until January 2023 for delivery.

That guy spends more time (mod: edited) over graphs than actually listening to the things, if someone took a shit that was shaped exactly the same as the Harman IEM target he'd think it was the greatest thing ever.

Looking at other reviews they're reasonable headphones with a few flaws

      • Not a valued resource either, and known to be a less than savoury human too.

7Hz Salnotes Zero instead of the Chu, probably Aria Snow over the Aria.

There'll be $120ish planar IEMs that stack up well against the 7Hz Timeless soon enough though.

DUNU Titan S is the other option in this price range.

The dual DD in the TruthEar Zero is executed well enough, but it's not top tier in that range, mainly graphs well for Harman in-ear target.

Taking your salnotes zero tip, thanks jasswolf

    Any blessing?

You may want to look at the 7Hz Timeless instead, or even wait for the $120 planar iteration to roll in.

Genuinely good MEMS-based IEMs can't be far away either.

      • I have both Timeless and Blessing 2 ,
        and I prefer Blessing's tuning, with/without a DAC.

        • +1

          External DAC/amp*

My point was the Timeless goes close for substantially cheaper.

ShenZhenAudio has it for $424 and Linsoul has it for $423, all time low is around $400 so not bad.
I agree with Jasswolf though, it is close to being usurped by IEMs half to a quarter of the price.

man i remember doing so much research in custom iems back in the day - was a lot of money for me back then and didnt pull the trigger

wonder what they are up to now

    • J Harvey’s are as expensive as always unfortunately… one day…

      • +1

Oh yes I remember JHA they were around $600+ back then - dont want to look at today's prices!
remember Custom IEMs? I was full ready to get my ears molded and get 4-8 speakers put into each one and listen to on the the train. Now its just apple airpods

  • Thanks OP nice find. Actually cheaper than buying from Aliexpress I think?

I also bought 7hz Salnotes Zero from Amazon since they have 10% off code at the moment, bought both to compare the two (Moondrop Chu vs Salnotes Zero), but I have a feeling I might enjoy the Zero better due to the sound and having detachable cable.

They both have been reviewed by a Youtuber based in the US that recorded demo out of those IEMs. Might be worth a listen..
    Chu
    Salnotes Zero

Have had both, I prefer the Salnotes Zero as the tuning is slightly more favourable to me (looking at the FR graphs they are almost identical)
I prefer the fit of the Zero, Chu runs a bit small and fit makes a bit impact on perceived sound. The spring tips are probably the biggest reason to get them in my opinion, they are pretty solid.
CCA-CRA has better details than both IMO, but Zero probably has the most balanced/neutral/smooth sound of the three.

Btw Salnotes Zero is $17 USD ($27 AUD) at Linsoul as part of 11/11 sales.

  • I've got the Aria's, great value at this price point.
