Fractal is great, but this is a somewhat outdated design at this point. I'd be looking at something like the Torrent instead.

    • It's by no means outdated, very modular case that can support lots of setups. Shares many of the same aspects as the meshify series. Though if you're pushing thermals, it's probably better suited to AIO/water cooling with bottom->top airflow.

Also TBH the torrent seems like a more specialised case, it's something I'd pick for a threadripper system.

  • i'd like to know why it's so hard to find cases with heaps of 3.5" bays these days… (HTPC) heaps of the ones i've seen have a few 3.5 and some 2.5s with heaps of empty space..

    • Probably because those with lots of media use server grade hardware for hosting and low power high efficiency boxes connected to their displays for viewing. As SSD storage prices get cheaper more and more cases don't have any 2.5" or 3.5" bays because the storage is screwed into to the motherboard.

      Because we are the minority

      • Sad but unfortunate truth

    • Why do you need a lot though?, define 7 XL 18 HDDs is plenty.

    • My Corsair Obisidian 750D has 6. I use none of them.

    • Because you're looking in the wrong place.

There's a gazillion cases like this - https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/black-rosewill-rsv-l4500… - to build a storage machine from, and a gazillion more on AliExpress.
