Is This Pre-Built PC for ~3k Good Value?

Hi all,

I have been planning to purchase a pre-built PC around 3k

(I am not looking to build the PC myself. I appreciate that it is straightforward but I am only looking at prebuilts).

I am looking to be able to run AAA games at minimum 4K 60fps for the next several years.

I have been waiting for the AMD announcements but saw a deal today that seemed to be good value and am wondering what other people think of the below for $3k:

Asus B550 TUF Plus Gaming AX
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | 4.6 GHz
32GB Klevv Cras X DDR4 4000MHz (16x2)
Zotac RTX 3090Ti Amp Extreme Core Holo 24GB
Aftershock Spectra Glacier Mirror 240mm
1TB Lexar NM760 Gen4 SSD (R 5300 | W 4500)
5 x Aftershock Omni ARGB Fans
850W Deepcool 80+ Gold
Windows 11 Professional 64 Bit
Next Gen Intel WiFi 6 & Bluetooth 5.1

Post the pre built deal as a deal and see what the masses think there?

value is ok, but that pre-build is basically clearing a sewer blockage of all old hardware like the cpu/mobo
4080 is a week or so away, id wait for that. also i dont like the idea of buying a pre-build that contains 2-3 year old hardware
i would get the newest on the market if buying a pre-build tbh

I’d go with a 4080 if future proofing simply because of the improved DLSS. That will give more life as you can keep ramping up how much is done by AI

At 60fps that cpu should be fine, but whether it’ll be fine in several years will be game dependant. The problem with prebuilt machines, for an extra $100 on a $3k machine a 5700x is a no brainer.

  • So, basically, this is a $2100+ video card, and the bits around it?

If I was spending that much money on something that is obviously important to me (in your case, gaming), I would want to be confident that the main component would be suitable for the planned usage period.

Others have mentioned that there is soon to be a later and greater top level video card. I don't know much about those (not being a gamer), however I do know about the 'everyday' components.

For $3k + I would want some decent name brand memory, and SSD.

I'd also consider the motherboard/CPU combo. I have read that in the last couple of years Intel has pulled ahead of AMD in many areas for gaming (do not want to start a flame war here; just what I have briefly read in tech forums).

So perhaps a 13th gen i5, and suitable MB?

If you are considering spending $3k on the above, going to $3.5k for Samsung 980 M2, Crucial/Corsair/G.Skill RAM, and Intel CPU seems to me to be worthwhile.

The 3090Ti might be mismatched with 5600x. I'd at least wait for the 4080.

It is always easy to say "just wait a bit more" when it isn't the recommender's PC that is being considered. However I do think it is applicable right now when new GPUs are around the corner.

The build seems fine at first glance but you could probably save a few hundred by changing the fan, case, memory and (especially) storage. Then again it is a pre-built. Though I do recall seeing 3080 prebuilts for $1900-2200 so I'm uncertain how solid this pricing is.

Have you considered higher fps lower resolution? I know plenty of non-competitive people who would much prefer a higher refresh rate and lower latency.

  • That's a great price for those sort of specs, although I question the brands of the components used - hence the low price I suppose. Not sure how reliable it would be
