Antec NX200M Micro-ATX Case $49 + Delivery ($0 C&C NSW/QLD) @ Umart

350

The cheapest and most compact micro ATX case I could find that has positive Youtube reviews, a mesh front panel for airflow, good amount of cable management space with a PSU shroud, even comes with a tempered glass side panel. IMHO looks nice too for the price.

Just picked up one from CPL (VIC) for $54, but the cheapest price I could find online is from Umart, hence in the title. Few sites claim the AU RRP is to be around $80, YouTube reviewers are indicating US RRP to be around USD 65. Either way I think ~AUD 50 is a pretty good price for what this case offers.

Fits 2 x 3.5" HDDs inside the PSU shroud with the included HDD cage, there is space to keep one more on top the shroud and perhaps an extra one with some tinkering. Ideal for a compact budget DIY NAS /HTPC build with all the Ryzen 5600G offers going around.

Have built a few rigs in these, great cases especially for $49. Can mount your front fans on the outside of the main chassis (behind the plastic front panel) for extra GPU clearance if needed.

    • It's definitely needed. Barely fit a 6600xt eagle in mine

Absolutely wonderful case for it's size, Really good price.

Build a computer in this case last month it was a pretty good experience, highly recommend

      What MOBO did you get?

      • I built mine with a MSI MAG B550 Bazooka

  • no stock in WA, bugger
    Guess its a clearance item/price

Also worth looking at the Silverstone PS15

Very similar design but without the PSU compartment (which I prefer), a bit smaller overall and imo nicer looking.

Is there a similar non-windowed version of this case? I'm after a small as possible case where I can shove all the components in, close it up, stick it in a corner and never look at it again

Nah. The glass is pretty dark though and I've turned off all the lights and put it under a desk like you've said.

If it's going in a corner, probably doesn't matter if the side is glass or not as you won't see it. Very difficult to find decent cases without glass windows these days. One way around it is to spray paint the inside of the glass black.

Maybe a sheet of vinyl wrap / contact paper so you can change your mind later

Can recommend the PS15, slightly smaller than the NX200M and has the same 2x front/2x top/1x rear fan setup

    • Also worth looking at the Silverstone PS15

Yes, I did come across that case as well, but I personally prefer a PSU shroud for a cleaner cable management. After building in the Antec I’m glad I got this because as indicated below I used a non-modular PSU, and I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have been able to make the internals as tidy as I did with a PS15. I’m a little OCD when it comes to cable management :).

  • Why are they still putting USB2.0 on cases?!

    • To save 0.001 cents

    • To save money and to be more compatible I guess, because USB 2.0 still has its uses (less interference with wireless mice and keyboards for example. I’ve had issues with this in the past, but not sure things have improved recently). Motherboards still come with USB 2.0 headers as well. For example mine came with 2, so its not just cases.

  • Any good/cheap micro-atx cases with more advanced front panel USB options? ie USB-c?

    • +1

Probably not in the sub $100 price bracket. I was only looking at mesh cases and available locally in VIC CBD area, from what I recall the cheapest I saw with USB C was the ASUS Prime AP201. It generally sells for ~$129. But there could be cheaper and more compact ones out there.

      • Looks OK though!

I really want something like my now almost 10 year old Dell XPS desktop case, which has two USBs on the front, two on the top, and of course the ones on the back. It seems insane to me that even small cases don't have USB plugs freakin' everywhere.

        • Don’t quote me on this, but I think the limitation on the number of USB 3 ports available on most cases is related to the limitation of the standard 20pin USB 3 motherboard header. While there are newer standards and headers out there, most motherboards and cases haven’t adopted them (at least not in the budget to mid-range market segment). But companies like Dell who make proprietary motherboards and cases can do whatever they want, they can put all the motherboard ports on the front panel (even on their budget PCs) if they choose to, because they don't have to stick to any standards.

I generally don’t care much for the front panel connectors because I use external hubs with my desktops and docks with my laptops so I can have all the ports at most convenient and accessible locations.

          • @opt: Interesting technical details, ta.

Fair enough re: hubs. I have the opposite preference - I find hubs annoying & just want to have everything attached to my PC!

  • Only downside is the feet are pretty bad

    • Yeah, not a big fan of the chrome plated ones myself, I'll probably paint them black or put a black tape or something. They are clipped in and removable if you want to mod them.

P.S: The feet are relatively tall to provide enough clearance for allowing the PSU to draw air from the bottom, there is an air vent with a dust cover at the bottom.

  • Finished building in it last night. It was a relativity easy build. Used a non-modular PSU so there were a lot of cables, but the PSU shroud and the space behind the MB tray allowed me to hide everything. It came out extremely clean. Would have been nicer if the top was removable as it was little tight connecting the CPU power, but I guess you can’t expect that level of modularity at this price.
