Le Chasseur Stainless Steel Roasting Pan with Rack - $34 + Shipping

80

Noticed this item on the Peter's of Kensington website. Seems like a reasonable price for a solid roasting pan from a reputable brand. The second cheapest price I can find for this item is $74.95 from Everten Online.

Maison Roaster with Rack features:

  • Made in France from 18/10 stainless steel. (see note below)
  • Durable and non-reactive.
  • Versatile performance allows them to be used on the stove and in the oven.
  • Oven safe to 260ºC.
  • Comfortable handling with elevated riveted handles which stay cooler for longer.
  • Dishwasher safe.

Dimensions: 35 x 26cm.
RRP: $140

Note - Peter's lists this as "Made in France" but Everten says it's made in China. For the price, I would guess that it's made in China.

See shipping rates for different regions here. Seems to start from $7 (Sydney Metro) for this item.

  • Too good to refuse, the cheapest online I found was $69.95…. Ordered two for that price!

    • LOL. I don't blame you, I would have bought one if not for the fact that I already have a roasting pan!

  • Thanks Moocher for the post! They're stainless steel too - so they'll be easy to clean, conduct heat well, I can store food in them for a few days as well. I'm a happy chappy! Can't wait to receive them!

    • I received a Scanpan stainless steel roasting pan as a present a few years ago, and it's been serving us well. The rack is handy too to catch the juices for making gravy. I'm sure you'll get many years of use out of yours. Enjoy!
(BTW, who is the lucky person getting the other one that you ordered?)

  • LOL @ yellowfly

How can you resist a Rack like that! :-)

  • our Ikea one is still going strong afer 4 years ($25 then i think) of regular use.

Thanks OP, you saved a trip to the shopping centre to find my wife birthday's present.

Checked on Everten and they are induction compatible, was going to buy Scanpan version but it costs around $100 and then you have to buy the rack. This is a good buy. I ordered two.

    • Yep - we have induction as well, and stainless steel so should be fine. If they were aluminium it would be an issue, unless they have some sort of sandwich thing with copper etc going on in the base.

My roaster is fine, but the rack is a bit manky…. so might get one as well…. Don't forget http://www.petersofkensington.com.au/Public/virtualPages/Pay… - if you spend $50 (so two of these racks, or one plus something else) or more with Paypal use the code "PAYPALPRESS" and you should get a free travel mug….

    • Thank you OP and PlasticSpaceman! Ordered 2 and the free mug :D

I just ordered one without noticing the size. Seems kind of small, is it just chicken size or could i do a lamb leg?

    • +1

I think that's a pretty standard size, I can do 2.5kg's lamb shoulder in my roasting pan which is the same size :)

A whole lamb leg (2kgs) was fine too, so were 2 smaller (1.3kg) chickens side-by-side.

      Edit: Added weight of meats.

  • Postage to WA sucks at $25.

    • Hence why I ordered two for $25. I'll use the other as a Christmas gift.

  • Postage to Central QLD $16, I have lost interest!
