You can get return tickets from the east coast of Australia(BNE/SYD/MEL) to Dallas USA for approximately $1000 with http://www.expedia.ie/.

I have found dates in October, November of this year and next year in February. Other dates may have this cheaper rate.

    • doesn't get much cheaper, ever!!!!

      Was EUR656 = AUD817 SYD-LAX-SYD through the same site a few weeks ago: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/70589

I also booked LAX-SYD-LAX for EUR656 a few days ago.

So it does get cheaper! :P

    • can you let me know what date actualy is. save my time searching :-)
been looking special deal to go to LA.

can only get EURO 752 the lowest in late Feb '13 out back mid Mar '13
which means about EURO 1,500 total including taxes etc

      • 736 Euro total is the cheapest I've come across, departing Feb 20 returning Mar 18 Melb > LA > Melb.
Your price is likely return too, not each way. Proceed to the checkout and you'll see this.

  • Anyone know of a good deal to Europe for June next year?

  • Never been to US before. If I were to go New york, how long should I stay there for? anyone know any cheap hotels?

I don't think there is such thing as a cheap hotel in NY :) Have a great trip!

Absolutely nothing cheap in New York. You're looking at around $400 a night minimum, average being upwards of $500.

We stayed in Brooklyn and had a free cab ride into the city each morning and that cost us $300 a night (absolutely no refunds), and it was in a very dodgy area.

This was for a family of 4.

    • Hotel Carter is around $100 and close to Times Square.

Dallas is definitely worth a couple of days, JFK museum, Deep Ellum, Arts district.

      • Dallas is worth it just for Six Flags, those coasters are insane!

    • I rented a hotel room for $1500 for a month. Near the corner of 99th and broadway. Communal bathroom and kitchen but room and bed was nice, with a big plasma screen.

    • Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I am gonna have to look for somewhere outside of New York then *sigh
      Can't afford more than $100/night :D

Where I stayed in January 2011 for about $90 a night, booked quite early though. It's only a block away from Times Square so it's a pretty excellent location. You're looking at about $200 a night there now though, and it is comfortable but basic.

    • I was just in NY a couple of weeks ago. Rented an apartment in Long Island City (5 minutes by subway to midtown) for $100/night through Wimdu (competitor of Airbnb). Forget the hotels.

    • You rather get a room by going here http://www.airbnb.com/ (shared or have the apartment to yourself) you get what Hotels don't get, very cheap plus a great experience to mix with local people.

  • Can anyone explain why these flights are so cheap through expedia.ie?

Looks like Qantas and Virgin only though?

I'm looking to do BNE -> NYC early next year, but really don't want to fly Virgin or Qantas, as they don't offer any inseat power in economy. Korean seem to just fine, but haven't found them on special at all. Any tips on finding specials on a GOOD airline?

  • Cheap Backpackers LA Backpackers Paradise free pick up drop off and food nibbles and transport to 2 venues

  • Anyone actually traveled on one of these cheap flights??
What exchange rate do they use?

I'm looking at booking a flight for 2 return to LA. It.s about $1000 cheaper than Qantas.
