Buy LG 42 C2 tv better at this price and double up as monitor

    • That’s what I’m thinking too, but going 4K means a new gpu every gen.

      • Wot?

      • What? why?

      • +2

Pfft.. Have 4k 43" and I don't agree. Turn down some settings if you have to.

        • +1

Each their own, but if I’m buying a high end gpu I want to max it out or close to. Especially so at 4K.

  • +1

unrelated but did anyone else see it initially listed at like $3k

    • Yeah placeholder prices when they first hit the website they do that commonly

Look it's a good starting price, but you'd want to be waiting for the $1300ish sale (or lower).

More OLED options appearing in Q1 2023, most notably a 27" 16:9 QHD 240Hz option from LG that should have a starting price way lower than this (hopefully $800-$1000).

    • Also have mini led monitors starting to appear. Cooler master have a 1440p 160hz one with 576 zones coming soonish, should be around $1000 based off the 4k monitor price.

Eh, miniLED just isn't competitive enough against this technology. It forces something of a price battle, but OLED just destroys it, especially if you want HDR presentation during fast motion gameplay, because the backlight array can't keep up in terms of response times.

        • MiniLED is competitive when its setup properly, unfortunately even though Samsung has the best hardware, their firmware is awful

          • @cille745: Show me a miniLED array that doesn't mess with responsiveness of a panel for 120+ FPS gameplay. It's a struggle.

            • @jasswolf: The G8 and G9 Neo handle this great

                • -1

@jasswolf: Not sure what you're trying to say, there's been no complaints from any users regarding the speed of the array

                  • +2

@cille745: It's easy to understand how that would be an issue in heavily contrasting HDR scenes, which is half the point of the technology. I linked to a competent technical reviewer directly addressing the issue.

Anecdata from people stepping up from something like a 144Hz IPS panel means absolutely nothing to me, almost anything looks better than that for motion resolution.

This is another impact of the inevitable halo effect from such arrays. You've got OLED in the same price ranges… just buy that.

      • The initial 4k model unfortunately is showing as $1399 on pre-order. IF the 1440p (Q) variant is the suspected $499US it should come to $873au if we go by the same 75% conversion.

  • +1

    Muzeeb approved?

  • +7

    Lol too expensive

  • Time for another?

  • Why wont you let my wounds heal

  • Its nice monitor for sure but the price is just too damn high

  • +4

The standard model went between $1500-1600 a few times, it's original MSRP was $2298. This being $1898 which is a generous $400 cheaper, could quite feasibly go as low as $1300, unless there's some sort of wall I'm missing. $1400-1500 should be more standard sales though as the months roll on.

  • Oof - I almost bought the other model a few times, but I just couldn’t deal with the white colour scheme. The grey colour scheme is much more suitable for my battlestation. Do you lose anything without a dedicated g-sync module?? Input latency same or is it?

    • +1

Also lose the fan which some complained about the noise

  • this or 38"?

    • Completely different monitors tbh.

    • +1

      this or 38"?

Stop talking about 38" please XD

  • On displayninja.com's review, it says this version (AW3423DWF vs AW3423DW) has 1 fan instead of 2.

Potentially it was done to reduce noise-making concerns?

    • The removed fan was the one in the GSYNC module

  • Anyone order this and get an ETA?

    • Ordered last night ETA 2nd Dec

      • +1

Seriously? I was on live chat with them and they consistently told me "This product is not in stock", wondering if I should cancel my DW order for the DWF

        • +1

Yep, apparently its been shipped now so fingers crossed

          • @iTaco: Mine also from Amazon

            • @Lebofly: Oh, i ordered from Dell

              • +2

@iTaco: lil cheeky update, my delivery from Amazon was late, they refunded me and the monitor arrived the next day

  • I talked to the sales chat and Muzeeb got me the monitor at $1450

    • Nice going. For that price I would jump on it too, I'll try chat tomorrow and see if I can get the same deal

      • LOVE IT SO FAR

    • How exactly?

      • Just said the DW was cheaper than the DWF due to the black Friday sale and that the DWF is meant to be cheaper than the DW model so he gave me a discount.

        • Damn, good going.

  • Is anyone else getting error: "AUAFFILIATES12%" is not a valid coupon code.

  • Just picked one up for 1,613 by asking for a better price in dell chat.
Not the right price for everyone, but I was happy to get it before Christmas
