  • Is this a good office mouse for work??

    • +8

Dunno of many decently quality mice that aren't. It's fine quality, doesn't have a whole heap of extra buttons, but does what a mouse is meant to do. It's pretty light, so you may not like the feel of it if you're used to heavier mice, but that doesn't make it any worse at the job.

    • +2

I find it very ergonomical due it it’s larger size. The only downside is the razer logo stays lit up, if that bothers you in an office.

      • Can't you turn that off in the app?

      • Your hand is on the mouse though. Can't see light when palm is covering the lights

    • +3

Yes, it's great especially if you have larger hands

      • -5

You know what they say about people with large hands?

        large gloves…

    • +1

These don't last, I've had a couple and they keep breaking after 1-2 years

      • I've had two for 3-4 years, one for the office and one for home. Both have been pretty good.
The scroll click has died on one but I am a heavy user of the scroll wheel.

    • +1

Yes, I use mine for work and play. Very ergonomical, going to get another on this deal.

  • +6

Find the rubber grip at the side very annoying as it will peel off after a year of use especially if you have sweaty hands like mine..

    • +1

my one came with plastic grips

      • My recent essential came with plastic grips as well. My original DA had rubber grips.

    • +1

I've had mine for 5+ years I think. I've worn a lot of the paint off of the top, but the side rubber grip sections are still intact.

    • I go through mice about once per year. I see them as disposable if you're using them all day everyday for work.

    • +2

My side rubber things peeled off as well.

I cleaned off the bad glue and used superglue to reattach. Problem solved

  • Nice

  • Nice find OP

  • +1

I have bought two of these in the last year and a bit.

First one, the wheel started to squeak after about a year of use.

Second one, bought not long ago, wheel started to squeak after a few days. >=[

Example of the god-awful annoying sound - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZqA-zHNREQ

Frustrating, but the mouse just feels so comfortable to use. I would still recommend it.

    • +1

I bought a couple via GeekBuying a while back - one has a rattle as a screw came loose inside (CBF fixing it so it lives in my laptop bag). But the size is great for me, and for sub $30 I cant find anything better.

    • +1

Think it's a design issue with the Deathadders, I've had issues with the mouse wheel on the Deathadder Elite V2 as well.
If you want to open it up and clean it, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odnM3M3OFBA

    • I had a similar experience with the DeathAdder non-Essential earlier this year - mouse wheel noise was bad enough that I returned it for a new one, which doesn't squeak. Razer quality seems to be in the toilet compared to 10 years ago (when I bought my previous DeathAdder, which was awesome but eventually died).

  • Thanks OP - purchased - a good stocking filler.

    • Do people really do stockings? Never known or seen anyone do them in my 37 Christmases

      • +1

I can't comment for others but we do - we lived overseas for many years and it's a tradition we brought back to Australia.

        • Yea I always thought it was a more American or international thing to do. Fair enough mate!

        • It’s an Australian thing too.

      • +1

I'm in my 50s and I still do christmas stockings for my son (15) - though it's down to a bottle of soft drink, some chocolate bars and some minor (usually $20-30) item that he may find useful or funny. Main present is under the tree to open with family in the afternoon. My grandparents still did christmas stockings for their kids to about 40-50s and grandkids well into our 20-30s, before they passed. It's our family tradition to let the children know their parents still love and think of them, even if they're all grown up. I miss not getting a drink and a chocolate put outside the bedroom door :(

        • Yep - same age and the same approach for us.

      • +2

We did pillow cases growing up.

        • yup.. stocking doesn't literally mean a stocking.. some years as a kid there'd be a felt like material stocking / sock with the little gifts in it, most years it was in a pillow case or laid out on the floor / bed etc.

This has been sitting at around $35 for a while. So not a huge saving.

    • +1

based on your own maths, it's almost 20% off ffs, how much more did you expect?

      • +6

Description is claiming 69% off which is clearly misleading…

        I didn't say it was a bad price…

        • +5

          which is clearly misleading

          They addered a bit on.

  • I think the name for this mouse is intense. I just want to be able to point and click on things, so not sure I need something called the "DeathAdder".

    • +3

      Would deathsubtracter be any better?

      • maybe actually… it must be difficult to market a mouse as being better than others. I mean I could call it the PointClicker but assuming nobody would buy that as it's not sexy enough.

  • The deathadder is one of my favourite designs under the hand, but the 'essential' version is the only gaming mouse I've bought that I've had die (scroll wheel stopped working in 6 weeks). Wouldn't recommend on that basis despite the price especially when you can routinely get the wireless version of this or the wired/wireless version of the basilisk for little more.

I'm still amazed I got the Razer Viper 8KHz for $24.20 from this deal earlier in the year- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/679095

Just letting you all know that you can get it for $22. Use code 7OFFPICKUP for those that havent used the pickup promo. Remember to select pickup location first before you enter the promo code or it won't recognise the code.

    Hope it helps

    • Do they charge delivery? I tried to use this, but it turned out to be a $2 saving after the $5 delivery. Did I do it wrong?

      • Maybe coz I'm a prime member so I don't get charged delivery. Sorry my bad

  • +1

Nice gaming mouse but I went through 2 of these before I stopped buying them.
Both of them started double clicking within 1-2 years.

  • +1

Get it delivered on amazon hub locker near you and save additional $7 using code - 7OFFPICKUP ;)

  • Even thought every razer product I've had breaks I can't really resist this price. Even if it only lasts a year.

  • I've purchased a fair amount of Razer stuff over the years and each one has failed within a max of 3 years. The Razer audio units (e.g. 2x mini Leviathons I purchased) tend to fail quickest, the mice within a year or two. I have 2 wireless Razer Mamba which first had the vulcanised rubber grips decay, then batteries, and finally the buttons started to fail.

On the otherside of the scale I have two Logitech G15 Keyboards, a G19 Keyboard, two G7 mice, a few Roccat items like a RAT9 mouse, all must almost 20 years old and still pumping without any issues in devices or batteries.

My personal advice from using spending thousands on Razer gear: Don't buy Razer!

But if you must, I'd recommend keeping your money local - JW Computers have it for $29 with free pickup (delivery for me is only $5).

  • its available for $24 now!
