Postage is 39 for me (Brisbane) making it $498 total. But still a good price

    $468 in Melbourne.

  • I recently went in store directly to Baby Bunting and they reduced the advertised price (if memory serves) ~$529 down by 20-25% because I had a good conversation with one of the sales members there (including purchasing a few other items from them previously) which brought it down to about $425. I then used 15% off The Baby gift cards to pay the remainder amount which brought that price down further.

Sometimes it pays to have a good conversation with staff who are willing to negotiate a little (or in my case, a decent amount).

The seat itself is excellent, we got the Graphene + variant (only minor variation from the original graphene model in that the texture of the padding is a bit more 'premium') and our bub has been very happy with it.

    • That's a great deal! Where did you get the 15% off baby bunting gift cards from?

      • It was from a promotion a few months back directly from the gift card provider's site (now expired). In my experience, The Baby gift card rarely goes on sale so I got pretty lucky with it. Otherwise, you can usually get it at lower rate (~6% if memory serves) from rewards programs for members such as AGL.

  • Good seat and I think one of the safest as per CREP and most compact. Definitely buy if you need one and have or are planning to have 3 kids as this will allow you to fit 3 across the backseat of a large car.

  • i guess inflation changes the expectation of bargains

    • Just checked my receipt on how much I paid. $439 from Baby Bunting in March 2018

    • Paid for millenia 2 years ago for $400… Insane inflation these days - also, soaring company profits as per news today…

  • Wow, I paid $383 for mine in Sept 20 after 20% off ebay sale but rrp at baby bunting at the time was $479. That's a 46% increase 😱

  • We've had these for our kids, very good seat.

  • I know all sites say 699 RRP but isn't 529 the normal price? Considering the better model Graphene+ standard price is 599. Comparison chart - https://www.britax.com.au/media/13780/britax-safe-n-sound-co…

I need a car seat in a couple of months, and went to Baby Bunting to check them out.
Can't really tell why I should pay $500+ if there are alternatives at 250.

They all follow the same safety standards, and "premium materials" sounds like a joke really, baby will be wearing clothes so will barely touch the fabric and doesn't care what material it's puking on!?

Was able to convince my missus, but if there are some genuine non placebo/matters of taste arguments I would like to know about them.

Well firstly start with evaluating the CREP scores and buy the best seat based on your budget and needs. Sometimes you need to fit into a small car or fit 3 across which limits your choices. I agree the fabric thing is a gimmick. However if you do end up buying a $400+ seat you'll notice the increased levels of refinement. Liken it to buying a 5 star ANCAP car from a budget Japanese manufacturer vs European luxury manufacturer. They all drive from A to B and have the same 5 star rating and built to Australian standards but they are still not equal. Buy the safest to your budget. Don't buy the nicest looking to your budget.
This Britax one is much nicer and easier to use than my Infasecure seats. But only reason I got it was due to an insurance claim after a car accident. Wouldn't have personally spent the extra $150-200 compared to the cheaper seat I had at the time. The cheaper seat was still highly rated based on CREP and served its purpose.

I had to respond to this with our personal experience. Have one Britax Safe n Sound and another InfaSecure in our two cars. Looking back at it, I would spend more to buy two Britax. Our son is 4 now and this is our experience after 4years. Note, both seats are used equally on daily basis while we used Britax for long trips/holidays.
      - Material and foam holding up like new in Britax while InfaSecure has started tearing apart (material) and foam has not maintained its shape. Britax has been washed more often too.
      - Securing the seat quite a few times (as cars have been changed over time or seats removed to carry larger items) has shown how easy it is to move it from car to car in case of Britax. The seat feels solid and has less movement and give than InfaSecure.
      - Our little one prefers the Britax and because it is more comfortable, he goes to sleep easily and for longer meaning quieter longer trips while he feels more relaxed.
      - Britax is a lot wider (as it has more foam protection). We have two SUVs so it is easier but if you have a small car then you may look at the narrow version or another brand.

Sounds like an ad but I was faced with the same choice standing at Baby Bunting 4years ago and should have bought two Britax seats.
