Team Vulcan Z 2.5" SATA SSD 2TB $169 + $15 Delivery @ PC Case Gear

160

Description says it's TLC, 1600TBW so seems pretty good. No DRAM cache though.
Can't find any benchmarks so a bit of an unknown quantity in that respect.

Total cost for me comes to $184.

Also available for $110.99 + $8.73 = $119.72 USD ≈ $178.90 AUD from Amazon US

      Don't look at ram much?

In which case, does it really matter if you've never heard of the brand? Team is a well-established maker of DRAM and has been around forever. But no reason why a Mac user would necessarily know that…

@xyron: Wow, it seems a bit crime if I never heard about this brand.

@Spacexyz: Only because you seemed to try and attract some social "proof" by suggesting that because you hadn't heard of the brand, they must be a no-name brand.

        • Explains a lot

The brand is team or team group. I missed that part too . I even have team ram

Hopefully this drive will live long and prosper 🖖

It would be illogical not to.

  • Pay another $25 and you can get a QLC 2TB SSD. https://www.amazon.com.au/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/d…

MX500 is not QLC, it is also TLC (which is better than QLC). Maybe you meant that it has DRAM cache?

MX500 is better, but as you say it's more expensive as well.

      • Whoops, yes you are right - it does have a DRAM cache

Not bad. Not sure on the durability front. I pay abit for the mx500

      • The MX500 is only rated at 360TBW (1TB) and 700TBW (2TB) so the Team should last longer

      thanks, this is good!

Is this a good SSD for a PS4

    • Should do the job, also consider the MX500, but I think this will be fine.

    • It will be perfect. Save your money and get this over DRAM options, you won't notice a difference on a PS4. Still a massive improvement over HDD, particularly for game loading times.

In a real world use scenario, what would not having DRAM cache (in a product like this) mean vs having it?

    • It will be fine for a games drive. I would go for a DRAM SSD for your primary OS drive but unless you move large files frequently you won't notice it (sustained read/write speeds are low without DRAM).
