Affordable Men's Haircut Hawthorn

Hi Guys,

Recently moved to the area and State. It appears haircuts in Melbourne tend to be close to $50.

Does anyone know of any place that will do a haircut for $20 (around the Hawthorn area)

Thanks.

Dan hit businesses so hard here with his lockdowns, they can't afford to offer those kind of prices anymore…

Be realistic…they were never $20 around hawthorn regardless of the lockdowns.

          • @iNeed2Pee: I was paying around $15 at Vic Gardens Rich and Kew a few years back.

Try the ones in Facebook groups for hairstylists in training.
They are usually very cheap or even free…

Thanks, will give it a go.

  • Try this group and a few other local community groups and search for haircut.

    • Personally I went a corded one because I somehow assumed it would be more powerful (less space for battery, no need to extend battery life is my logic) - https://www.shavershop.com.au/wahl/color-pro-home-clipper-01…

      • I have the wireless version of the color pro. It is good enough for a buzz cut. The only downside is that it charges really slowly (take almost 10 hours for a full charge apparently). Havent gone to a barber since the start of covid lock down in 2020.

Go to the north side of Richmond. There's a bunch of Vietnamese hairddressers there that will do you for around $20.

Failing that, go into the city and there's a few on Elizabeth St.

Check your local shopping centre - my local has two Asian run barbers where you pay $10-15 for a basic 10 min cut, no appointments, cash only, buy your ticket from a little vending machine and wait your turn . The cut quality varies wildly depending on whatever random working holiday staff they can find but the price is right.

Personally I’m happy to pay the $50 for a well done zero fade. It usually comes with a hot towel clean down service after and a drink of your choice.

for $50 i'd want a fried rice too

      • …and a happy ending?

  • Not sure about Hawthorn, but there are barber shops in some shopping malls around your area where you can get a $10 or $15 cut.

  • I pay $15 in Glenroy.

    • Do you need to wear moccasins to get that price?

    • I'll second this.
He's quick but does a good job. For a few bucks extra get a wash at the same time.

    • Thanks Mills - how much does he charge?

Give him a call, you will have a pleasant surprise.

      • You will need to call him anyway to book an appointment.
If he is still expensive, say you will get back to him.

    • Oscar is your guy!

$50 for a basic men's haircut is ridiculous imo.

  • Ive cut my own for past 20 years just give it a try. I also cut my 2 sons hair. Wife does her own.

  • If you just bought a house and moved into Hawthorn you can pay $50 for a haircut. If you're renting, go get that $20

  • In Collingwood at the king domain barber academy I think they do supervised cuts for like$10 takes about an hour
