just watched a video on how this works and feels over complicated for a BBQ

    Never BBQ'd before.
Any recommendations on how to get started?

Buying a BBQ is a good start

    • Lol same here i think is time for me to watch YouTube .

  • when does the sale end?

  • Anyone experience with this Kettle BBQ brand? I am eyeing on this product https://www.bunnings.com.au/matador-radiant-kettle-charcoal-…

    • Would you want plain Radiant when the Deluxe is $100 cheaper atm ?

      • The Deluxe looks a bit complicated to me. I don't know what to do with the cart except having another thing to clean up.

        • +1

Somewhere to store your charcoal. Deluxe also has a hinged lid.

          • @scottb721: I might go to the store to check it. Thanks for the advice.

            • @vinataba: They only have the basic one on display. The Deluxe is boxed up.

    • if you like the brand than the cart is well worth the money

the only real downside is the increased foot print the cart takes up
if nothing else its a side table which comes in handy when you bring and take the food away
the hinged lid also comes in handy so you dont have to find somewhere to place the lid or do things with one hand
in addition your tongs and scraper fit better just hanging off the front handle

the lid is significantly lighter than the regular model
as a guide they had napoleon cart there and the lid was about the same as the regular model

standard thermal kinetics leads me to believe that this model would not hold heat as well as the standard one
ie Fine for direct grilling but not so much for smoking/slow cook/offset cooking

        • Do you mean the non-cart one will hold the heat better?

          • +1

@vinataba: I get by with no lid at all on my charcoal bbq. Don't get too swept up in the talk.

          • +1

@vinataba: yeah it would but that's only if you need to cook that way
if your just looking to throw a few snags or wings on and want that charcoal flavour it wont matter

i correct myself in saying for offset/indirect cooking (coals on one side, meat on the other) would be fine may just need to expense an extra briquet or two

At this price point you're splitting hairs about cooking quality.

  • Has anyone bought this and found assembly a bit difficult? I'm at Step 12 of the manual and the prepping panel is not sliding into the frame properly.

    • Just make sure you've slightly undone the the 4 screws that the panel slides into.

      • Yep thank you manage to assemble it now. That helped and using rubber mallet to force it in.
