Not a bad price, but as mentioned from this post, better to check for stock as there might be a queue. Second hand are selling for similar price in eBay which is crazy and hyped in Tiktok as well.

    What is this?

    Does it make phone calls?

      • +8

        That is so ridiculously inaccurate.

It’s one of the best cameras in its size to come out in a long time.

Maybe OK if you don't like shooting landscapes, wildlife, interiors, architecture/real estate, video, etc., and if you add on an after-market grip to make it comfortable to hold.

@ForkSnorter: Do you normally go around pointing out products failure to do a certain thing when it’s not targeting that market?

This camera is meant for street photography, taking with you everywhere instead of lugging around a larger format camera.

“Oh that car is terrible, doesn’t even fly”

@Zodinn: I doubt it's designed specifically for street photography. You can take street photos with any camera ever made. Limiting yourself to a single focal length is probably the worst choice you can make, in terms of creativity and flexibility (and fun).

Personally, for street photos I'd prefer a camera with better AF, IBIS, and the ability to use much wider and much longer focal lengths for more interesting shots.

  • Had mine for over a year and I love it. You'll get lots of comments though, some being "what brand is that?" Or "I had a Minolta like that!" Or even "is that film?"

These are low in stock across the world (hence the crazy prices on eBay). I ordered from Digidirect back in June, which they came back saying they have oversold the number of stock and didn’t receive it until October. Just be wary ordering from them.

  • Be aware of the wait times here. Pre-ordered through digiDirect weeks ago but still no ETA on delivery. Having called them and many other stores directly, everyone expects the delay will be ~2-4 months. Annoyingly, I doubt they’ll refund the difference from what I paid but they’re happy to ‘sell’ more stock!

    • I bought the x100v from digidirect the night before this post, and just got my aus post email of a delivery!

  • No stock, no deal

There most likely will be a wait time for this - this camera has been on back order for quite some time now at every retailer across the world.

  • Good luck getting stock lol.

There’s a reason I sold mine for $2300 used about 2 weeks ago.

Not flipping, just want to buy the XT5

    • There’s a reason I sold mine for $2300 used about 2 weeks ago.

Damn, 5 years ago I bought a 2nd hand X100s for $350. Used it if for a few weeks, then sold it for $500.

    • Where did you sell it? Was thinking of selling mine as it's not getting used much.

      • +1

        Gumtree

  • It's a nice camera but it's also overhyped

    • Bought mine for $1900 and only waited 2 weeks, got lucky at a local store (behind my house essentially lol).
Was nice to sell it for a profit as I lost interest in photography.
Brilliant camera, and easy to take with you everywhere.
If I do get back into photography, I want to have the capability to do macro shots.

      • Then get the X-E4. Replaceable lenses, similar shooting style to the X100V.

        • I had the X100s but it died about a year ago. I think I'll be getting the X-E4 next since it looks like a good replacement with room to grow too

          • @MrUniqueName: Put your dead X100S up on ebay, you might still get $100 or more for it.

  • Are these made in Japan?

    • Yep according to the label on mine. But I mean the cpu and a lot of the smaller components are probably still made outside of Japan.

      • i have xpro2 and xt-4, the xpro2 MIJ is way better IMO

  • How is it compared to leica?

    • Plenty of vids on the topic - search YouTube.

  • Price updated to $1969

  • I bought a lens from digi a few months ago, took 6 weeks to deliver. Just be aware that you might have to wait for a while.

  • +1

Any deals on the X-E4 with the 27mm?

  • +1

Probably will get it in a years time taking this recent article

  • The way Digidirect have these for sale is pretty misleading. You can almost guarantee wait times are longer than the 2 weeks they are estimating - and it's not even abundantly clear that stock is on backorder.

  • Isn't it a bit egregious and unethical that they're having a sale and taking $1.6k/$1.9k for an item that has no specific time-frame for delivery?
